First Signs of Fall

Once these beauties begin to arrive, we know that cool, crisp, autumn days are not far away. We have received our very first shipment of mums for the season- providing much-needed fresh color to spruce up container plantings for September. Once buds begin to open, mums will bloom for 3 to 5 weeks. Deadhead to encourage repeat-blooming, or replace by late September or early October to extend your autumn displays.

Looking for an alternative to mums for fall planters? We are excited to have some gorgeous 'Black & Blue' Salvia in-store, budded and blooming! Unusually deep blue flowers will turn heads in the garden, and pair beautifully with many other colors. Combine with yellows, oranges and reds for a decidedly autumn display, or with more subtle colors such as white, pinks, yellows and silvers for a more subdued look.

Plant Stonecrop for low-maintenance, late summer flowers year after year! Members of the sedum family, these are very durable perennials that thrive in spite of sun, heat and dry conditions. Vigorous clusters of blooms in shades of pink emerge in August and persist into fall. If you enjoy attracting pollinators to your garden, be sure to plant a few of these to provide an autumn food source. Several varieties in stock now!
Fall is an excellent time to start an herb garden. Cooling temps lessen the stress of hot, dry conditions, allowing your herbs to thrive with minimal care. Some herbs, such as oregano, parsley, thyme and rosemary will even survive the winter and then continue to grow next spring. We've received several fresh shipments of these savory garden favorites, like basil and thyme, pictured here. Cool-season veggies will also be in-store during September- great companion plants for your autumn herb garden!
Eugenia (Myrtle) Topiaries Now 30% Off!
Take advantage of discounted prices and use these lush and lovely topiaries in fall container plantings. They are hardy to 40 degrees and can be over-wintered indoors in a bright, sunny spot.

A large shipment of
Encore Azaleas arrived last week, just in time for fall planting! Many homeowners look for evergreen shrubs with blooms for year-round interest in the landscape. Encores fit the bill perfectly, as they are evergreen and produce a flush of flowers in spring, sporadically through summer, and again in the fall. The following varieties are in stock now:
Autumn Amethyst, Autumn Cheer, Autumn Coral, Autumn Embers, Autumn Empress, Autumn Monarch, Autumn Moonlight, Autumn Rouge, Autumn Royalty, Autumn Sunset, Autumn Sweetheart and Autumn Twist.

Our Half-Off Sections are likely to stick around during September.
Select plants, pots and decor are 50% off, and new items will be added throughout the month!
