And what is so rare as
a day in June?
Then, if ever, come perfect days.

What's In-Store for June...
As summer begins, we're enjoying the blue skies, every breeze that comes by and the sweet scents they carry with them. You may have noticed the fragrance of wild honeysuckle in the air lately; at the nursery the
'Daisy' gardenias and Confederate jasmine are in bloom. We are still receiving several shipments of fresh, healthy plants each week, and will have a great selection this month. As the weather heats up, we make sure to carry plants that are proven to stand up to, and thrive in, our intense summers. Come in during June and we'll be happy to show you great options for your containers or flower beds!

Durable annuals for the summer garden are here, including beautiful choices for sun or shade. Pictured here are (front to back) lantana, fountain grass and celosia, which all do well in full or
partial sun.
We have several varieties of Elephant's Ears (Alocasia & Colocasia species). These are
tall-growing and create a dramatic look in the garden. Pictured here with maidenhair fern rings.

Come in and discover options for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden like lantana (pictured here), which attracts both!
It's officially summertime when the butterfly bushes start blooming! We have our best selection of these during the next couple of months.
Brighten up a covered porch or
shady patio with bold foliage and
bright blooms. We have a variety of houseplants that can also be used outdoors during warm weather in
shade or filtered sun. Our selection of these expands during the summer.
We have some very nice perennials in stock right now,
and many of them are blooming! Here's a sampling of
the most interesting & beautiful...
Balloon flowers get their name from the way the bud looks before it opens. Full to partial sun.
Beardtongue is a
tall-growing hummingbird magnet for full to partial sun.
The coneflowers have buds all over them and this is one of the first to open. Grow in well-drained soil with lots of sun.
Coreopsis are an
old-fashioned favorite also known as tickseed. Full to partial sun.
Dwarf daylilies, like 'Stella d'Oro' (pictured here), are nearly bullet-proof in sun and heat. Repeat-blooming.
The electric-yellow blooms of evening primrose are likely to stop you right in your tracks. Thrive in full to partial sun.
Perennial ferns like this Japanese painted fern provide reliable texture and color for shady spots.
Hostas are hard to beat for their lush, showy foliage in interesting colors. Did you know they bloom as well? Shade or filtered sun.
We have several varieties of iris right now, but they might not be available for too much longer,
so get them while
you can!
Lamb's Ears offer dazzlingly soft
silver foliage and spread quickly- great for massing in perennial beds.
Rudbeckia, the old favorite Black-Eyed Susans, are great for cutting and attract butterflies.
Full or partial sun.
Salvias are also hummingbird magnets, and will repeat-bloom if deadheaded. Full to partial sun.
We have a good selection of shrubs for early summer planting.
It's fine to plant now, just make sure you water the plants thoroughly 2 or 3 times a week (more if they start wilting).
We have several options for summer interest year after year...
Abelias offer stunning foliage in shades of apple-green, bronze and pink and we have several compact varieties in stock. White blooms from mid to late summer attract butterflies!
The rabbiteye blueberries have ripening fruit on the stems! Plant two varieties for cross-pollination in full sun (at least 4 hours). Bring 'pick your own' to your own backyard!
Limelight hydrangeas are popular for their extra-large blooms that open from lime green to white and fade to pink for a nearly all-summer show. They also
thrive in sun!
Classically beautiful flowers for the shade garden, that are excellent for cutting, French hydrangeas are in stock and in bloom!
Often mistaken for a hydrangea, Chinese snowball viburnum prefers full to partial sun and will repeat bloom if deadheaded.
Native oakleaf hydrangeas do well in shade or filtered sun. This one, called 'Snowflake' was developed by
Eddie Aldridge.
