What's In-Store for May

We're elbow deep in spring at Collier's and the colorful and fascinating blooms and foliage seem to fill every available space.

Our variety and selection are at their peaks!

Maybe your garden is already filling up, or maybe you haven't even begun digging yet (it's not too late, by the way); in either case, we hope you'll come in and enjoy spring with us!


The new pergola has allowed us to expand our selection of annuals this year! We have an amazing variety in 4 & 5 inch and gallon pots.	We have our best selection of perennials right now. Durable options for sun and shade and some very cool finds for the plant collectors among you!	Cell pack flats offer a lot of bloom for your buck! These are a great way to fill large spaces with color on a budget.


Herbs and vegetables add fragrance and the promise of harvest to the garden. Plus, they're easier to grow than you might expect. We have a good variety of both right now, including heirloom tomatoes.	Hanging baskets are an easy and inexpensive way to add a burst of color in an unexpected place. Some of our customers take the hook off and set the pot in a more decorative container. We have great options for sun and shade.	Need an instant container or quick but beautiful gift? We have colorful, sun-loving mixed containers in several sizes.


Our hot house hydrangeas have been forced into bloom, which makes them perfect gifts! They can be enjoyed indoors for 4-6 weeks and then planted in the garden, where they will return each year. They are show-stoppers and nearly impossible to resist!	We currently have a great selection French and Oakleaf hydrangeas for the landscape. Discover old favorites and some unusual varieties. Many are budded and getting ready to bloom.	Our tables and displays are full of delightful plants for your garden... Come in this May and enjoy sunshine, chirping birds and the thrill of finding something you (and your garden) just can't live without!

Fertilizer Guide

You're ready to garden, but what should you fertilize with?

Here are the basics about each of the fertilizers we carry:


Osmocote 14-14-14 Granular, time-released (effective for 3 to 4 months). Use on annuals, perennials and houseplants. Apply when planting and again mid-summer.	Start-N-Grow 19-6-12 Granular, time-released (effective for 3 to 4 months). Use on annuals and perennials. Apply at planting and again mid-summer. Be sure to water in after applying.	Grower's Special 12-6-6 Granular, time-released (effective or 3 to 4 months). For use on trees shrubs, perennials and groundcovers. Apply in spring when new growth appears and again mid-summer.


Ladybug Flower Power 4-6-4 Granular and all natural. For use on anything, but especially recommended for edibles like herbs and veggies. Reapply every two months.	fertilome Water Soluble Plant Food 20-20-20 Water-soluble (follow label directions exactly; mixing too strong can burn plants). For use on annuals, perennials and houseplants. Use bi-weekly or monthly.	fertilome Blooming & Rooting 9-59-8 Water-soluble (follow label directions exactly; mixing too strong can burn plants). Our customers have reported excellent results when using this. For use on any flowering plant to promote profuse blooms.


fertilome Azalea/Evergreen Food Plus Systemic Insecticide 9-15-13 Granular fertilizer with systemic insecticide included. Great for azaleas if they are bothered by lacebugs. This can be used on other shrubs that tend to have insect problems.	Bayer All-In-One Rose & Flower Care 9-14-9 Water-soluble drench (mix and pour around plants). Includes fertilizer, systemic insecticide and fungicide. This product is an easy answer to rose care- it feeds and helps control insect damage and black spot.
