This month of February America pauses to take special note of the many accomplishments of Black Americans for National Black History Month!  Black History Month honors the contributions of African Americans to United States history. Did you know that Madam CJ Walker was America's first self-made woman to become a millionaire or that George Washington Carver was able to derive nearly 300 products from mere peanuts?

He promised to press for reforms to make it easier to vote; which is important to note

Place limits on fundraising so that a few families & hidden interest can't bankroll an election
His successor will inherit a political culture with more divide than direction

Democracy does require a basic bond between its citizens, with a sense of trust
Vote; speak out, stand up for the weak & vulnerable in society, someone stood up for us

"Priority number one is protecting the American people & going after terrorist"
The Pres said we can't try to take over & rebuild every country that falls into a crisis-risk

Since his first year in office, Obama created 14 million jobs & unemployment is cut in half
He slashed the deficit by three quarters & for human welfare he has left a path

The U.S. has cut carbon emissions, & a gallon of gas is under two bucks
But as for fixing immigration & a background check for gun control, no luck

Trump & Cruz are fanning fear, that immigrants are the enemy taking our jobs away
President Obama wants to raise the minimum wage & close Guantanamo Bay

We have 2 million people in jail disproportionately African American men
It's imperative that we get more involved politically, Hillary has to win

Thank God; angry White men over 35 are only 19% of the population
There is one woman we can trust as Obama's successor to run this nation

Biden is in charge of Mission Control for a new moonshot to cure cancer
The GOP is full of questions, but it has been Obama with the answers

Obama proclaimed, "the United States of America is the most powerful nation on earth"
"How can we make our politics reflect what's best in us, and not what's worst?"

"From MLK to Barack Obama"
 
I would have given my right hand to have had a chance to meet and shake the hand of the latter day Jesus Christ himself ... Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
I never thought in my time and space, that I would have a chance to meet someone whom would make me happy to have kept my hand for the same opportunity.
There are very few people around the world that are as well-loved, as Martin Luther King Jr. A man of peace, MLK dedicated his life to the ideals of justice, democracy and hope. It's fitting that these are the central themes of the Washington, D.C. Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial; open this year. Set along the Tidal Basin inside the triangle formed by the Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln memorials. The MLK Memorial (www.mlkmemorial.org) incorporates elements of water, stone and trees, creating a setting for quiet reflections and introspection amid dramatic, panoramic views. Dr. King's work and teaching had an impact on millions of people around the world, and his influence is still felt today.
 
Change is: Building The Dream!
History in the making, "Fired up! Ready to go!" the crowd chanted, repeating the Obama campaign cry, "Change we can believe in."
"They said this day would never come," Obama began as he took the stage after winning the 2008 Democratic Iowa caucuses. "They said this day would never come. They said our sights were set too high. They said this country was too divided, too disillusioned to ever come together around a common purpose. But on this January night at this defining moment in history, you have done what the cynics said we couldn't do... You have done what America can do in this New Year, 2009. You came together as Democrats and Republicans and Independents to stand up and say that we are one nation, we are one people and our time for change has come."
 
How long? ... Not long!
Now is the time, we can all make a difference as we celebrate Black History. Let us proudly support the MLK Memorial and what it represent, PRIDE, DIVERSITY and INCLUSION.

That's what I tell people who ask me what lupus is like. 

Since I was diagnosed with lupus in 2010, every day has been a challenge. 

Lupus has wreaked havoc on my body-it has caused severe complications from kidney disease, painful skins sores and scarring, fevers, chronic body pain, swelling of the joints, mouth and body sores, bleeding, hair loss, and shortness of breath. My lupus flares put me in hospital multiple times a year and have made it impossible for me to continue my flourishing career.

"This product is everything. I am an all natural hair stylist, stationed in Charleston SC. I have used this product for 3 years, in previous salons and in my own, and from my experience this Putty is compatible with all naturally coily hair textures. I use this Putty for all of my twist services (two strand twist, flat twist), my braids without extensions (cornrows, and singles) and coils (for clients who aren't locking). I sit my client under the dryer for a nice mold for about 15 mins and always get the BEST results for twist outs and coil outs!
