Obama vs. Republican Critics on Terror

by Barry Fletcher

Republicans suggest that Obama deny entry to refugees fleeing war-torn Syria
Obama accused the GOP of being "scared of widows & orphans" & flaming hysteria
The President was in the Philippines promoting American values at the economic summit
In the wake of the Paris terror attacks Republican's visceral disgust shows lack of stomach

Obama called the parties' rhetoric a "potent tool" for the Islamic State
To recruit more of the suicide soldiers while Congress has a refugee debate
In Paris 130 people were murdered, GOP blames Obama for playing down the threat
Republicans refuse to take refugees in their red states mongering fear & regret

Meanwhile, 33,000 Americans are killed by guns every year
For the sake of security, maybe we shouldn't let in the people who are already here
After Pearl Harbor Roosevelt imprisoned Japanese Americans most of them citizens
A disgraceful episode for which Reagan apologized with cash payments to the victims

Now you privacy advocates & Edward Snowden fans think about what you're preferring
Stopping the Gov. from snooping in on your gossip or a local restaurant bombing from occurring
A deadly rampage by Islamic State terrorist ought to make GOP voters rethink
Their presidential candidates with no expertise in foreign or military affairs should shrink

The next election is not only about electing a president but choosing a commander in chief
Is our strongest weapon liberal values or is the world coming to an end, what's their belief?
Will they take on the NRA who believes everyone should have a gun?
Your name  appears on the no-fly-terror-list but if you make it to the U.S. you can buy one

California passed an anti-gun concealment law, automatic voter registration
They've closed gender pay gaps, promoted abortions, liberties Obama want for this nation
If Republicans take control of this country with their repeals & nuance
I'm moving to Canada with the unarmed North Americans with health insurance

U.S. President Barack Obama, left, speaks as Philippine President Benigno Aquino III looks on during a joint news conference at Malacanang Palace in Manila, the Philippines, Monday, April 28, 2014. Obama is assuring Filipinos that a new security agreement doesn't mean the U.S. is trying to reestablish military bases in their country. Obama says a deal signed Monday to give the U.S. military greater access to Philippine bases will help strengthen security in the region. He said it also will allow for a faster response to natural disasters. (AP Photo/Carolyn Kaster) (The Associated Press)

Where many of us live, it is becoming clear that summer feel-good days are dwindling away for the remainder of the year and the cold winter is rapidly approaching. With the change in weather, it's not only time to dig out your winter gear but it's time to make a few adjustments to your daily lifestyle in order to healthily adapt to the sudden change in temperature. This month's newsletter focuses on moisturizing your hair for the winter!

Have you tried our complete moisturizing line of holistic hair-care products? Visit our online store to give you and your loved ones' hair some extra TLC this season. The winter air can strip your hair of moisture and leave it brittle and limp so take a look at our products to help you through the next few bitterly cold winter months!

Going Natural In The Winter? Here are a few pointers!

Start out by treating your hair to a pre-winter trim
It is common for people to avoid getting a trim because they don't want to sacrifice the length of their hair. This is a decision that is generally made because one doesn't understand just how beneficial it is to trim your hair; moreover, that your hair should be trimmed periodically throughout the year. Why are trims so important you ask? They aid in less knotting and easy detangling which ultimately leads to better styling results. A pre-cold weather trim gets you off on the right foot and can make your winter hair dilemmas that much easier to take care of. Besides, what better time to trim your hair than in the winter? Especially if you are proceeding with going natural! I say this because it is recommended to wear protective styles during the winter and many people wear hats. Thus, less attention on simple details such as the length of one's hair.

Shampoo less using the right shampoo
Due to the cold weather and it's drying effects, it is recommended that you reduce the frequency of how often you wash your hair. Overall, natural hair does best when you don't shampoo on a daily basis. Too much shampooing will lead to excessive dryness and breakage. These characteristics combined with the frigidness in the air can be a nightmare for one's hair. Also keep in mind, not every shampoo is for everyone. Please be sure you are using the right shampoo for you. We have representatives in our store Monday through Saturday, 9:00AM - 5:00PM EST, so if you have any questions or need any help finding the right shampoo for you please give us a call.

Deep Conditioning
Since the air is so dry in the winter, moisturizing is more important than ever during these months. To help with moisture retention, it is advisable to do regular deep conditioning treatments, especially during these colder months. Our deep conditioner is chemical free. The (ingredients here) do (description here).

Daily Moisturizing and Scalp Nourishment
Moisturizing should be included in your daily hair routine year round. So if this is something that you have not incorporated into your lifestyle, it is highly recommended that you start. A few ways to help you keep your hair moisturized, especially in the winter are; using a moisture-rich deep conditioner when you deep condition your hair, using an effective moisturizing method (yes, you can moisturize your hair improperly), using a heavy sealant, and wrapping your hair at night with a thick satin scarf or bonnet. This takes dedication, but your hair will show off your efforts :)
As for scalp nourishment, this is especially beneficial during the winter because of the harsh elements. By keeping your scalp moistened you are giving it extra protection from the dryness in the air. It is easy to pamper your hair but neglect your scalp. And if you already suffer from having a dry scalp, the colder months can make this condition worse. So please, don't neglect your scalp!

Protective Styles and Guarding Your Hair From Hat Damage
Protective styles help you retain moisture and keep your hair length. They also prevent hair damage as you would not be "over-manipulating" your hair as much. What is a protective style you ask? Protective styles are usually heat-free hairstyles concealed at the ends. They are known to encourage hair growth and length retention whether your ends are exposed or tucked within your hairstyle (commonly debated). Though there has been much controversy about what truly constitutes a protective style, and by default, a protective style is wearing something such as a wig, extensions, or a hat. When it comes to an actual hairstyle, buns, chignons, braids, and twists are commonly accepted. This protects your hair from the elements and keeps the moisture locked in.

Beware of winter accessories! Hats and scarves tend to pull on delicate natural hair and unfortunately break it off while you pull them on and off of your hair. Something that can help you guard your hair from hat damage is using a silk scarf as a foundation to add a layer of protection between your hair and your hat and or scarf. Another option would be to sew or pin a satin lining inside your hat.
