While Exceptionalism in recent decades has centered on power & influence

Obama's conception is more inwardly focused, in deed & in conversation

Ordinary people not born to wealth or privilege, help shape the destiny of this nation

It's patriotism that embraces the darker moments that's challenging the USA these days

A view better suited for a population growing browner & accepting of lesbians & gays 

This is an exceptional America that can't seem to prevent gun violence

When American history is told, it's racial past will be remembered in silence

Obama's life is proof of America's exceptional nature, democracy the GOP resent

Today, every Republican presidential candidate is condemning the President

Giuliani told a group, he didn't think Obama loved America; can he be more insane?

Rubio said the Pres has a disregard for our moral purpose, at times flirts with disdain

This is why Democrats had no reaction to Trumps insults on Bush, Perry, Graham or McCain

We are a country that's chronically dissatisfied with itself & its immigrant visitors
