Staying away from home may leave you feeling at odds with how to fill your spare time. You may not be familiar with Calgary the same way you are with your city.
Which is why we have compiled a list of activities you can do for fun, within walking distance from our Eau Claire Tower and Manor furnished apartments.
1. Movies at Eau Claire Cineplex Odeon
Walk over to Eau Claire Market cinema to see a movie. Always playing newly released films.
2. Play Billiards at Eau Claire Market
Head over to The Garage sports bar to play billiards on one of their 17 pool tables. They also have interactive video games, dart boards, ping pong and foosball as well as VLT's. Remember to play responsibly.
3. Dinner and Drinks at River Café
Saunter onto Prince's Island and you will find a cottage-dining oasis. River Cafe was one of Calgary's pioneers for local, sustainable food, serving seasonally crafted menu items, and it feels like a cabin in the woods. Purveyors of fine food and drink, they leave nothing to be desired.
Family owned and operated for over 15 years, you will not find a larger whiskey selection in Calgary. Calgary's original chophouse and whiskey bar is also one of the few places in town that will cook your burger to order, how you like it.

5. Coffee Shop Tour of Kensington
This time of year presents a perfect opportunity to dress cozy in a hat and some mittens and go for a coffee shop stroll. Kensington, one of our trendy, local shopping districts, across the Peace Bridge from us, offers a variety of places to grab a warm beverage. Here are a few to list:

6. Eat Your Way Around the Globe in Kensington
You could spend a year eating in Kensington and still not try all the food the neighbourhood has to offer. From authentic Italian at Pulcinella, to Mexican at Julio's Barrio, Ethiopian, Indian, Greek, the list is extensive. Find it here.
7. Visit the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre
The Chinese Cultural Centre was built to restore and maintain Calgary's Chinatown. It was finished in 1992 marking a new era of promoting Chinese culture and activities.
8. Explore Chinatown Chinatown is home to many shops and restaurants serving an authentic Chinese experience. Take a walking tour to see it for yourself.
Eat at one of the many restaurants, or learn about the neighborhood's history.
