New OEI Partnership Provides Online Tutoring Resources To All California Community Colleges

With the recent selection of Link Systems International Inc. (LSI) as the provider of online tutoring services for the California Community Colleges (CCC) Online Education Initiative (OEI), all community colleges throughout the state now have access to two important resources to help provide online tutoring support for their students.

The OEI has negotiated volume discounted pricing for NetTutor online tutoring services through a competitive bid process managed by the Foundation for California Community Colleges through its CollegeBuys program. NetTutor offers up to 24/7 live online tutoring, student essay review, and asynchronous tutoring options. A wide range of subjects is supported, and LSI's highly trained full-time, professional tutors complete a rigorous training program that is aligned to CRLA standards. Colleges may wish to contract with NetTutor for comprehensive online tutoring, for after-hours online tutoring to supplement local efforts, or for subject-specific online tutoring needs.

Additionally, the OEI has funded a systemwide license for LSI's WorldWideWhiteboard online tutoring platform. This advanced, versatile, mobile-friendly platform can be used by any college wanting to hire its own tutors to provide online tutoring. Any college can implement this online platform immediately at no cost. The WorldWideWhiteboard is a collaborative online interactive platform created expressly for online tutoring environments and does not require students or tutors to download or install plug-ins before accessing a tutoring session.

In addition, LSI products and services rigorously adhere to accessibility requirements of both the federal 508C legislation and User Agent Web Accessibility Initiative.
