As the summer months unfold, the Online Education Initiative (OEI), Education Planning Initiative (EPI), and Common Assessment Initiative (CAI) are in full swing, with virtual and
face-to-face meetings, the culmination of highly informed decision-making processes, numerous professional statewide collaborations, and the sharing of solid and helpful ideas from across the system.
With the official appointment of Pat James as the OEI's Executive Director, the California Community Colleges system is seeing the early phase of this initiative through in its entirety. In particular, Pat's first post in her new "OEI Update" blog is a great place to start for a succinct overview of everything this initiative has accomplished to date.
In addition, OEI Statewide Program Manager Steve Klein has been working diligently to ensure the process for publishing a Request for Proposal for a common course management system is an inclusive one, with statewide input on numerous levels. Please see "OEI Developments Laying Solid Foundation" for information about the latest advances by the OEI.
The EPI also has plenty of progress notes to share. EPI Statewide Program Manager Carlo Santos has been leading this effort. Please see "EPI Shaping RFP, Portal Elements" for the latest EPI overview.
The CAI has been assisted through the excellent leadership of CAI Statewide Program Manager Dr. Jennifer Coleman. Please see "CAI Reviews RFI, Forms Key Work Groups" for a progress update on the CAI.
In other news, four members of the OEI Steering Committee will attend an invitation-only, three-day Learner Analytics Summit, July 21 to July 23, to be held at the University of Maryland University College in Baltimore, and sponsored by the Kresge Foundation.
