A Sizzler of A Summer

Golf and Stampede. What do they have in common? They produce the generous hearts and create a sense of community support bringing Calgarians together for a great cause. With seasonal high temperatures and the support we have had from stampede and golf events, the Prostate Cancer Centre has had a sizzler of a summer!

Scott Land Stomp

A tradition that kick starts Stampede is the annual Scott Land Stomp. On July 3, nearly 1,000 people showed up to celebrate, and to support a great cause. Over $42,000 was raised thanks to the generous support of Gregg Scott and the guests at this year's Scott Land Stomp.

NutRaiser

The second annual NutRaiser was held on July 4, where people tried a new brew of beer with prairie oysters. While you might think that those two might not go together, many people showed up to try this new brew, with all the proceeds going to the Prostate Cancer Centre. A big thanks to Village Brewery, Bill Brooks, Jim Button and Bottlescrew Bill's for supporting this event. Cheers!

Priddis Greens Charity Classic

This year marks 16 years that the annual Priddis Greens Charity Classic golf tournament has occurred. And this year was one of the best yet. $415,000 was raised from the August 12-14 tournament, totalling close to $5 million since 1999. The "Fund a Need" auction brought in over $52,000, which included money to buy a new centrifuge for the Centre's research department. All the money raised contributes a significant portion of what makes our Centre run efficiently and effectively. This tournament would not have been possible without the generous support of the tournament's golfers, sponsors, volunteers and committee members. Thank you and we are looking forward to 2015!

Remington Golf Classic

August 20, the 7th annual Remington Golf Classic was held at the Stewart Creek Golf Course in Canmore. People from all over Calgary came to golf all in support of the Prostate Cancer Centre. This year $320,000 was raised. Over $600,000 has been donated from this annual event since 2013. The Man VanTM was also there giving free PSA blood tests. Thank you to all of the volunteers, committee members and golfers for your support.
