Things are Falling into place at the Prostate Cancer Centre
Sunrise with the Specialist

At the crack on dawn on October 20, Dr. Jay Lee, one of Canada's leading Urology specialists, introduced our newest initiative, the Rapid Access Clinic 4. Since September of this year over 50 prostate cancer patients have been booked for this new follow up program offered only at the Prostate Cancer Centre. Stay tuned for more reports on this inclusive sexual function, continence clinic and overall well being.

YMCA Wins for Innovation

The YMCA and Calgary's Prostate Cancer Centre combined forces this year to bring the Man Van™ program to several of their locations to offer members and guests a free PSA blood test.
The creative group that promotes health events and initiatives at the "Y" came up with a new spin on men's health care. Men who participated in the blood testing promotion were able to spin the wheel of health for great prizes. Of the men tested 87 had never had a baseline PSA blood test before.

Thank you YMCA for caring about your men as much as we do!

Husky Cares

For the third year in a row Husky Energy has brought the "get checked" Man Van program to their employees. As you can tell by the picture below all the staff and ....huskies? climbed into our boxers to show support for our initiative. Annual PSA blood testing  enables men and their physicians to have a good look at the PSA result and are able to note any changes to determine if further investigation is needed. Husky cares about their employees and shows it by lettting their employees have a short "paws" to join us for testing. Thanks Husky Energy!

October is the time of year in Alberta when we enjoy fall colors on the trees, harvested fields and a time to reflect on what we are thankful for.  Below are a few things our staff are grateful for.

"I'm thankful for how all our staff are so passionate about creating a positive, warm environment for our patients, at a time in their lives when they most need it."

"I am thankful for our amazing building we work in funded by donors."

"The 16 amazing urologists we are priviledged to work with on a close basis."

"The men that walk in as a stranger for treatment and leave as a friend."

"I am thankful for our donors who keep the doors open."

"I am thankful for all the wonderful volunteers who step up to help whenever they are asked to do so! They are the heart of our organization."

"I am thankful for the great volunteers and supportive colleagues I work with  at PCC."

But most of all, thank you for taking control of your health, for believing in our work and for your continued support!
