Message from Michael Karangelen, SAF President
Alumni & Friends,
| Michael Karangelen ('90) |
Normally, summers in Ithaca are on the quiet side as many students, faculty and staff take advantage of the academic break.
2013 was different. Collegetown had an energy this summer - driven in part, by the many student entrepreneurs who choose to stay and work on their companies and concepts, and the resources created in part by SAI, Dan Cohen, Steve Gal ('88), Tom Schryver ('93, MBA '02) and others in the entrepreneurial community at Cornell. The Student Agencies Building and Popshop were alive with the creative spirit of new companies launched out of eLab, such as Rosie, Party Headphone, Sunn, and other students who are just dipping their toes into entrepreneurship.
In October, SAF will be bringing some of this entrepreneurial energy into NYC. Please plan on joining friends and family of Student Agencies Foundation for lunch on October 10th and for the E@C Entrepreneurial Summit NYC 2013 on Friday, October 11th where Student Agencies Foundation is a lead sponsor.
Sincerely,
Michael Karangelen '90

Academic Credit for eLab!
Starting in the 2013 Fall Semester, the Johnson School at Cornell University will be offering course credit (5.5 credits) to participants of the eLab program. Two courses, Actualizing Your Startup ( part one in the fall and part two in Spring 2014) will be taught by Dan Cohen (eLab Director), Steven Gal ('88) and Tom Schryver ('93, MBA '02). Dan Cohen stated that he was so proud of this decision because "eLab and Cornell join a very small and elite group (only CU, MIT and Stanford) that recognize the work of their student accelerator/incubator participants with credit towards their degrees. We will now be able to deliver the rigorous eLab program as part of the student's full time course work rather than on top of it. This is really a win for our students, the eLab program, SAF, E@C and Cornell."

Ways you can connect...

We have several ways for you to keep in touch with SAF and it's entities (and with each other!): For an informal look at SAF and SAI, check out our Facebook pages. SAF FB page posts updates from across all of its entities, partnerships, and friends, along with interesting tidbits from Cornell. SAI FB page highlights their businesses and student management teams (and alumni).
SAI Alumni have been connecting on LinkedIn to SAI via the APM (alumni program manger) profile and each other through the alumni group. This week, SAF is launching two new communication avenues: 1) a company page and connection profile open to all alumni and friends of the Student Agencies Family and 2) an eLab alumni group - for members of the eLab program. For our alumni/friends that requested more visual of Ithaca, please check out our Pinterest page.
We looking forward to connecting with you!
