We welcome you to our first
on-line issue of RONDO!
Are you, too, wondering about the shift from print to electronic publication? Or are you among those who have already made the change? Since we are just beginning that journey, we invite you to join us in this endeavor as we explore the possibilities of this new format. SOVA's whole reason for being is to share information, ideas, best practices and other information that will aid and support each one of us in our leagues or guilds. Therefore, we will be happy to share our experience as we go forward in our efforts to communicate with you in a more efficient, more cost effective and more timely manner than ever before.
As the new President, I am very aware that, although a Charter Member of SOVA, I am the first President who is not a Founding Member. That we are initiating a change does not mean that we will be deviating from the SOVA Purpose and mission initiated by and held so dear to the hearts and minds of those who founded this wonderful organization. We are trying to keep up with the latest technology that will prove us more efficient and effective. All of us on the Board are cognizant of keeping to the message. What a wonderful gift the Founders gave us of support, of sharing, of camaraderie almost "in our own backyards"!
To that end, I invite you to the up-coming Roundtable, "Message in a Bottle," October 17th-18th at the Marriott Resort and Spa at Grande Dunes in Myrtle Beach. We listened to your comments and requests and have expanded it to a day and a half - more time for everything! The first afternoon will engage you, hands-on, in a technology fair exploring new ways that can help you, your projects and your organizations. Later you will hear, among other things, how one symphony volunteer organization re-purposed a project from another organization to fit its own needs and "audience." Sharing what works, once again, is what we are all about - networking, supporting, sharing and making new friends!
I welcome you to the new RONDO, and I hope to see you at the beach in October!
Carol Lou Yaeger
President

The 2013 Annual Report of the Southeastern Orchestra Volunteer Association (SOVA)
SOVA was officially founded on June 22, 2005. During its eighth operational year, SOVA continued to exceed expectations: programs continued to improve, and new features were added to enhance the assistance offered to individual and association members. Thank you all who have embraced the SOVA concept and supported it with your dues, your attendance and participation. Your dedication and enthusiasm continue to assist the SOVA mission.

KEYNOTE:
The Recipe for Artful Communication
Communication is an essential part of the leadership menu, yet when poorly prepared or presented, it can push people away from the table, never to return. In contrast, artful communication piques curiosity. It entices and draws people in. It makes people yearn for more. Whether you're recruiting volunteers, publicizing an event or fundraiser, or serving as a representative on the symphony or orchestra Board, this keynote presentation will share the basic recipe for communication success for SOVA members. It will also highlight 10 secret ingredients designed to make every communication from you and your organization a gourmet meal.
ROUNDTABLE:
External Evangelism Extraordinaire
Nailing down the elevator pitch is one step toward being a strong ambassador for your organization. In this roundtable, we'll "take it to the max" with simple tips and techniques designed to help you evangelize your mission all day, every day, even when running errands or entertaining friends.

IDEAS GOING ROUND AND ROUND
|
"We learned the idea at Roundtable!"
 | | Charlotte created a tabletop Festival of Trees... |
 | | ...Columbia's creation followed! |
While in Augusta for the 2012 Roundtable, Charlotte presented the Festival of Trees featuring their Festival of Trees, 2011 fundraiser.
Columbia adapted this idea and presented it as a fundraiser for their Carnegie Hall/ Link up Children's Education Program.
Not only did the Roundtable present the opportunity for attendees to learn about this fundraiser, but we actually met with, talked to, and took back this outstanding new idea for fundraising.
Thank you SOVA Roundtable and
The Symphony Guild of Charlotte for Sharing!!
