HWPP to invest in six community-academic partnerships for second Responsive component cohort

The Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program (HWPP) and the MCW Consortium on Public and Community Health are pleased to announce that, as of May 29, 2015, funding of approximately $1.7 million is being awarded to six community-MCW academic partnership projects.

As part of the second cohort of the HWPP Responsive component, the partners on these awards will work to translate public health evidence into action to pursue grassroots policy, environmental or systems change addressing the key determinants influencing health.

The funded partnerships include more than 60 community organizations and seven MCW faculty and staff members as partners on these projects. Four of the projects are focused in urban areas (Milwaukee County) and two in rural Wisconsin (Eau Claire and Jackson Counties).

Community-MCW academic partnerships submitted 24 Stage 1 brief proposal submissions which were reviewed by a subcommittee of MCW Consortium members and external content experts. Of these, seven partnerships participated in the Stage 2 Pitch Presentations and six of those were invited to participate in the Stage 3 full proposal process with both stages reviewed by the full MCW Consortium.

Reminder: Submissions are being accepted for new Responsive funding opportunity and are due July 10, 2015

Submissions are now open for the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program's latest Responsive component funding opportunity. The Call for Changemakers Request for Proposals is available online and is guided by the 2014-2018 AHW Five-Year Plan.

The funding supports Wisconsin-based, multi-sector, community-MCW academic coalitions or networks to work together to translate public health data and evidence into actions to pursue grassroots policy, environmental or systems change (changing the regulations, rules, priorities, protocols or practices within and across organizations and communities and/or changing the physical or material components of the community environment) that address the key determinants that most strongly influence health.

Successful projects will demonstrate an appropriate budget and timeframe for their proposed scope of work. Approximately $1 million to $1.5 million is available to support four to six projects.
