Award Announcement: HWPP Responsive Component Cohort One

The Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program (HWPP), along with the MCW Consortium on Public and Community Health, are pleased to announce that, as of December 19, 2014, funding of approximately $730,000 is being awarded to three community-MCW academic partnerships.

As part of Cohort One of the HWPP Responsive Component,
the partners on these awards will work to translate public
health evidence into action to pursue grassroots policy, environmental or systems change addressing the key determinants influencing health.

The funded partnerships include more than 20 community organizations and six MCW faculty and staff members as partners on these projects. Two of the projects are focused in urban areas (Milwaukee County) and one in rural Wisconsin (Rusk County).

Strategic Component: HWPP seeks three experts to work on first health priority

Through the HWPP Strategic Component, the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin endowment will invest in targeted health priorities. The first of these priorities is community-based mental and behavioral health.

To further develop this priority area, the AHW endowment is seeking a subject matter expert, evaluator and facilitator to work with HWPP staff members on a Leadership Team in 2015.

Reminder: January 9, 2015 due date for Responsive Funding Opportunity Brief Proposals

Last month, HWPP released a new funding opportunity from the HWPP Responsive Component for a second cohort. The Call for Changemakers Request for Proposals (RFP) is available online and is guided by the 2014-2018 AHW Five-Year Plan.

The funding will support Wisconsin-based, multi-sector, community-MCW academic coalitions or networks to work together to translate public health data and evidence into action to pursue grassroots policy, environmental or systems changes that address the key determinants influencing health.

New Year, New Electronic Newsletter

In January 2015, the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin endowment will launch a new electronic newsletter called Endowment Essays to better share stories about our partners' work in biomedical research, education and public and community health.

In addition to the Essays, the endowment will continue to provide timely information regarding HWPP's funding opportunities and educational events.
