HWPP 9th Funding Cycle

LOI Submission Summary
 The submission deadline for the HWPP 9th Funding Cycle Letter of Intent (LOI) was Friday, March 15, 2013.
In total, 62 LOIs were submitted, including 14 Impact and 48 Development proposals. The total requested amount was $19.6M. LOIs indicated:
- A primary focus in an Urban setting (39), followed by Rural (12), and Statewide (11).
- A diverse geographic focus, with projects occurring in 72% of all Wisconsin counties (52 out of 72).
- The top Health Focus Areas include chronic disease, mental health, and healthy growth and development.
- The most common Infrastructure Areas include access, public health capacity and quality, and health literacy.
- The most common Populations indicated include children, urban, rural, and racial and ethnic populations.
- In total, twelve (12) academic departments and 153 unique community organizations contributed to the proposals.
All LOIs are being advanced to the Consortium Subcommittee for review. Invitations to submit a full proposal through the 9th Funding Cycle will be extended following the May Consortium meeting.

| HWPP Educational Webinar Series
HWPP is sponsoring a series of educational webinars addressing evaluation, dissemination and collaboration in Community Engagement in Research (CEnR). You may register to attend one or all of the following educational webinars. Each webinar will be limited to the first 20 participants. Based on presenter willingness, recordings of the webinars may be available on our webpage.

Full Proposal Informational Workshops
HWPP will be offering Full Proposal Workshops to provide information and answer questions regarding the requirements of a full proposal submission. Attendance is not required, but is strongly recommended.
Two Full Proposal Workshops will be offered:
- Monday, May 13th from 3:00 - 5:00pm
OR
- Thursday, May 16th from 10:00am - 12:00pm
These sessions will be offered on the MCW campus in room 1210/1230 of the Health Research Center, but will offer simultaneous broadcast of the workshops via webpage viewing and teleconference for audio.
If members of your partnership are available to meet in person, we have reserved the room for one additional hour after the workshop for partnerships to collaborate on their proposals.
Registration for the workshops will open in April, but we encourage you to hold one of the dates/times on your calendar.

Community Teams Program
 HWLI is offering its 8th annual Community Teams Program for coalitions and partnerships working to improve the health of their communities. The program includes a variety of learning activities:
- Three workshops
- A series of webinars
- Application of skills through a team project
- Ongoing technical assistance from staff and consultants
Program Benefits:
- Build individual and collaborative leadership skills
- Apply community health improvement models
- Use practical evidence-based approaches to address health issues
- Enhance program planning, evaluation and grant writing skills
- Advance skills to effectively communicate public health messages
- Gain insight to build and maintain strong partnerships and coalitions
- Obtain access to a network of colleagues and consultants

Community Health Informatics Workshop
| Sponsored by the Community Engagement Key Function of CTSI A Community Health Informatics workshop will be held on Thursday, May 30th from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM at the UW - Milwaukee School of Continuing Education in downtown Milwaukee. Check-in will begin at 8:00 AM.
The goal of the workshop is to create a roadmap for how informatics can address important public and personal health intervention efforts at the community level. The Community Health Informatics Workshop will be an interactive, full-day event that seeks to establish a common language and priorities for future development between community based organizations, community engaged researchers and information scientists.
By participating in this workshop, community and academic collaborators will:
- Have an opportunity to network among community based organizations and local researchers interested in collaboration on existing and new initiatives focusing on information technology
- Showcase community health informatics projects currently in use or under development
- Have an opportunity to shape a shared set of priorities for the development of future community informatics projects using non-technical language that is accessible to all participants
