2012-13 HOCKEY MARATHON
This year's Hockey Marathon celebrates the 40th year of a long tradition at AIS. As always, the High School will divide itself into RED and BLUE teams and battle for 35 straight hours. The iGeneration Blue Team will face off the 70's Red Team. All AIS alumni are invited to attend this exciting event, starting with the opening ceremony, at 8:20am on Friday, December 7.
As Hockey Marathon celebrates its 40th year, we invite you to view a video capturing the essence of the marathon, in the words of Gonen & Elise, the founders themselves. The Hockey Marathon activities raise funds to benefit Save A Child's Heart.

Prince Ali, Fabulous He Middle School Students Perform 'Aladdin'
Drama teacher Liran Yaacobi and her team pulled off a Middle School performance that was the talk of the town amongst AIS students and staff. Following last year's successful production of 'Mamma Mia', this year's stage was transformed into the magical city of Agrabah. The set design, costumes and special effects were so spectacular that the crowd often forgot they were watching middle schoolers, rather than professional actors. After 3 sold-out shows, we can't wait to see what our Performing Arts department will conjure up next.

TIMEMUN in WASHINGTON, D.C
An AIS delegation from The Israel Middle East Model United Nations (TIMEMUN) participated in The College of William and Mary Conference. Their trip included a tour of the State Department, led by former AIS School Board Chair Erwin Rose, as well as visits to historic Washington sites. Meet our delegation:
While in Washington, AIS students and High School teacher Mr. Pete Sickle also had a chance to reconnect with AIS alumni in the area. In attendance at the "Happy Hour Alumni Event" were former AISers Stephanie Midyan, Ian Baldwin, Ben Jones, Preston Reynolds, Rhonda and Zoe Brown, and others. Thank you for coming out!

David Luther-Davies (Class of 2003) was invited to speak to the Model United Nations as well as other students and staff about his recent tour in Afghanistan, where he served as an infantry platoon commander. David gave a compelling presentation, telling stories about his time at AIS, post-secondary studies, and duty in the British military. He returned from his visit to Israel to his fiance Michaela in London, England, where he lives. David will be receiving a medal for his service later this week.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR
AIS GRADUATES TIE THE KNOT Stephan Beck, Class of 1996, and Kari Detwiler, Class of 1997, recently wed in Vergennes, Vermont. After dating at AIS, Stephan and Kari tied the knot this past summer. In attendance was their favorite AIS math teacher, Laurie Rubel, seen on the right. Do you recognize the parents-of-the-bride? Rick Detwiler is a former AIS Superintendent and wife Sandy is a former ELL teacher at AIS.
WHERE ARE THEY NOW
Stephan and Kari are now living and working at the American School of Doha in Doha, Qatar. Kari teaches first grade and Stephan is finishing his engineering degree at a university in Germany and coaching soccer at ASD. Kari's parents are retired and living in Vermont. Sibling Charley is working in San Diego, CA, and Jake lives and works in New Hampshire and is engaged to Emily, an air traffic controller.

MRS. FRANKE VISITS AIS & CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF MARRIAGE
Last month, Anne Franke visited Israel for the first time since teaching English at AIS from 1987-1989. It's a special year for her as she celebrates her 75th birthday, her husband's 80th and their 20th wedding anniversary. Why here? One of many reasons is they met in Israel. Anne is originally from the Seattle area in the United States. After teaching at AIS, she returned to the U.S. for a year, and then continued to the International School of Antwerp, in Belgium, where she taught for 7 years. Anne is now retired and living with her husband in the Washington area. Anne made quite an impression on her colleagues who greeted her with open arms. Seen here is Elementary School teacher Susie Trifman, Anne's husband, Michael West, Anne Franke and Resource Center teacher Rebecca Kimelman.
