Greetings!

And away we go. Memorial Day, the symbolic start to the summer season, is right around the corner, and the heightened energy around the Cape is noticeable. Traffic has picked up, many of our seasonal residents have returned, and local businesses are getting a fresh coat of paint. We're getting in the spirit of spring renewal around the Schoolhouse by getting a fresh coat of paint ourselves. Work continues on putting the finishing touches on our beautiful new windows, and our friends at the Provincetown Theater are helping us to breathe some new life into the Davis Space. The Gutter Monkeys (that's not an insult, that's the name of the business) have done their thing to improve the drainage around the building. And the planning process to figure out our next moves to strengthen the business continues. Now, if we could just get a few more sunny days.......

And They're Off!

There may not be as many funny hats as at a horse race in Kentucky, but we find the come-as-you-are fashion sensibility on Cape Cod just as attractive. The Wellfleet Sprint Triathlon takes place on Saturday June 4 in a benefit for Outermost Community Radio. Race director Kathleen Walker has done a fabulous job in getting everything organized for the USAT-sanctioned event. Go big and swim, bike and run all three legs yourself, or put together a team and leave the hardest parts to someone else.

Many thanks to the sponsors of this event: Bubala's By The Bay, Cahoon Hollow Massage & Fitness, The Bookstore Restaurant, Roderick's Payroll, Seamen's Bank, Sperry Chiropractic, The Wellfleet Chamber of Commerce, Winslow's Tavern, The Wellfleet Spirit Shoppe, Big Vin's Liquors, Cape Air, Spaulding Rehab and Even'tide Motel and Cottages.

What Do We Want?

Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman will be appearing in Provincetown with Denis Moynihan in a benefit for the station on July 29 at Provincetown Town Hall. The duo will be fresh off their stint covering the Democratic national convention in Philadelphia, and full of insights into the entire presidential election season. Tickets are on sale now and moving fast, so get yours before you get shut out of the event the way so many are shut out of the political process.

We are thrilled to welcome Ray Wiggs to the airwaves as he presents From The Artist's Perspective on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 12:30. Ray interviews members of Provincetown's world famous gallery community, revealing insights into their work that could only be elicited by another artist. We are also proud to cover the broader arts beat with the Arts Week program every Thursday at 12:30, now hosted by the dynamic team of Candace Hammond and Bragan Thomas. You can hear the children's voices of the Nauset Youth Alliance on the final Saturday of each month at noon. Thanks to Barbara Bell for helping get that show together for us. If you haven't heard by now, Provincetown Town Manager David Panagore hosts a lively discussion of issues facing our town on the first Friday morning of each month at 9:00.

Seasonal changes are afoot as snowbirds return and others are drawn away by the demands of summer work. Dennis Allee returns to the Jazz Odyssey on alternate Tuesdays from 5-8pm. Tom Conklin returns to the airwaves with his show, What It Is, this Sunday from 1-4pm. Jay Harrington, on the other hand, has gone fishin' and will return in October. DJ Ashley is set to rock the world with her new show alternate Mondays from 9-11pm. Brenda Conlan is back for the summer to host House of Hope on Friday mornings from 6-9am. The Dune Tramp has taken up residency on the 3rd Friday of each month at 9:30am as he explores the dune culture with those who live it. You can Help Me, Rhonda with Rhonda Litwinowich on the 4th Sunday of the month from 9pm to midnight. The Program Committee seeks a listener to fill an open seat. Get in touch with John Braden if you would like to help shape the sound of the station.

We couldn't be prouder to partner with the many fine arts and culture organizations on the outer Cape. You can see all of their offerings in one convenient place on our website. See everything that's going on at W.H.A.T., Payomet Performing Arts Center, Cape Cod Theatre Company, Provincetown Theater, Cape Rep, and Harbor Stage. See the musical offerings at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, the Wellfleet Beachcomber, Harvest Gallery and more. There's so much to do, it's hard to know where to start.
