January 2014

Greetings!

Wow and wow again! Not only did we meet our goal for the Fall Membership drive, the pledges continued to come in right through the end of the year. We made a conscious decision not to make another appeal for your generosity since we know that you've probably been getting overwhelmed with requests from all the other worthy (and other) causes that want your money. Despite the fact that we gave you the silent treatment, the opportunity to add another tax deduction to your 2013 returns wasn't lost on many of you. Community radio supporters are smart. We knew this about you, and you proved it once again. So from all of us to all of you, thanks for a super fantastic 2013 - we're looking forward to an even better 2014.

Live Music at the Schoolhouse

Come hang out with us as we enjoy the assembled talents of the Cape Cod Songwriters Retreat. They have graciously made their closing party a benefit for community radio, with WOMR getting 100% of the proceeds from the evening.

Plans and Schemes

We have arrived at the time of year when there is much more planning than doing. We all need to stay inside and feast on the acorns that we stashed away when the weather was better, and figure out how we're going to set ourselves up for the brighter days ahead. In our case that means that planning is under way for the WOMR birthday party at the beginning of April, the triathlon in June and the Cranberry Festival in September of 2014. Stay tuned for more details on all of these events and more as we get further into the new year.

New Board President
Brad's Movies

Volunteer Spotlight

Say hello to our new President of the Board of Directors, Ira Wood. Ira is the host of The Lowdown every Tuesday at 12:30PM where he talks to the most interesting people he can find about the things they find fascinating. Ira is an accomplished author and former publisher in addition to being a former Selectman in the town of Wellfleet. He will draw on all of these experiences to lead WOMR to its future successes. Thanks to Ira for agreeing to take on this challenge. Let's hope he finds that the rewards outweigh whatever stresses come with the new job.

Brad Moore's
Movie Series

Thursday night at the movies continues in January. Come out to the Schoolhouse and enjoy some popcorn and a beverage and help support community radio while watching one of Brad Moore's historic films.
