Here's a quick note to let you know that we're still here and we're staying active through the shoulder season. We're very much looking forward to the Cranberry Jam at the Harwich Cranberry Arts & Music Festival this weekend. We've got 10 acts over two days on a stage that will be more accessible to the public than ever before. We'll have beverages available (adult and otherwise), and there will be food trucks and crafters galore. Come spend a day with us -- or maybe two! It all takes place in Brooks Park in Harwich Center from 12-8 on Saturday the 14th and from 1-6 on Sunday the 15th. We're also thrilled to strengthen our bonds with the Orleans community in partnership with the Orleans Chamber of Commerce. WOMR is proud to be a media sponsor of the Nauset Surf 'N Music Festival produced by the Orleans Chamber taking place September 26-28 around Orleans. That ought to keep us busy for a while.
The Most Wonderful Time

Anyone who has spent significant time on the Cape will agree that September is the best time of year. The weather is great, the water is warm, and there's plenty going on to keep you entertained. We do our best to hold up our end of that bargain by presenting the 4th Annual Cranberry Jam at the Harwich Cranberry Arts & Music Festival Saturday and Sunday September 14 and 15 at Brooks Park in Harwich Center. The Harwich Cranberry Festival has been going on for a lot longer than that, but it underwent a serious reorganization a few years ago. That's when the festival partnered with Community Radio for Cape Cod to bring live music to the party. This year's version promises to be bigger and better than ever. While we loved being in the hollow the last few years, we are excited to have the stage at the top of the hill on the ball field this year. It will be right on the street adjacent to the food trucks and the craft booths. You won't be able to miss us. We will also be running a longer program than in the past, with Saturday's entertainment lasting until well after dark. Bring a sweater, it might get chilly. We recommend dancing as a method for staying warm.

The Return of the
Fall and Winter

Film Series

Join us on Thursday October 3 at 7:30pm for the triumphant return of Brad Moore's WOMR/WFMR Fall and Winter Film Series. Brad has an absolutely insane collection of vintage movies on real film and we are lucky to have him share them with us in the Davis Space at The Schoolhouse. First up, it's The Great Gabbo (1929), directed by James Cruze and Erich von Stroheim. Films will be shown every Thursday at 7:30pm from October 3 through the end March. There's always free popcorn and beverages are available too. Make it an off-season movie night with your firends at WOMR and WFMR.

Step Right Up

We have a bunch of new volunteers stepping up to the mic. Lindsay, Sam, Sal, Charles and Kevin should all be making their maiden voyages at the flight deck in the coming days and weeks. If you'd like to be a DJ, all you've got to do is show up. We'll give you everything you need to start turning on the world to your favorite music. There's room enough for everybody under our big tent.

Live Stream Update

One feature of our new website is a new system for our live stream. The old system for supporting the live stream had continued to operate until this week when it finally went away altogether. There was a temporary interruption of service for some folks while various devices found the new address, but things should be more or less back to normal at this point. The Public Radio Tuner from PRX and the TuneIn mobile app have both found our new signal . Tablet and phone listeners can use these apps to get their community radio goodness.

Be sure to check out the podcasts available on the WOMR website. We are especially proud to host the premier of the Cape Cod Radio Mystery Theater production of The Mouse Made of Dough. It's a child's first radio thriller. New episodes will roll out every Thursday night for the next couple of months when the pace will pick up as the adventure heads for a holiday season climax.
