Greetings!
 | Interim Executive Director John Braden |
As we head into March, our thoughts turn to the lengthening days, the return of the migratory wildlife (human and otherwise), and the impending onset of spring. The main transmitter for 92.1FM on Mt. Gilboa is getting in on the return to life as well. It went into hibernation for a while following a suspected lightning strike during the blizzard of February 9-10. After several trips up the hill, inspections from several experts and several phone calls to the manufacturer, we finally managed to get it back to full power. We're still waiting on the delivery of a few more parts, and we'll have to power down the transmitter while we install those parts, but things are soooooo much better than they were just a few days ago. Welcome back to our friends on the South shore and elsewhere that depend on the full power of 92.1FM to get their community radio goodness. We're sorry that you may have had to go without us for awhile. Don't forget that we're always available on the interwebs and mobile apps. Our internet stream did go down for a few hours in the storm, but it came back to life much more quickly than did the towers. Our generator allowed us to avoid some of the problems associated with the storm, but there's only so much you can do when Mother Nature gets that angry.
