Let's Go OVER THE EDGE FOR KIDS' SAKE! |
So what are Brutus Buckeye and Monica Day (NBC4i)
doing on top of a Columbus rooftop with Ed Cohn and Lori Brown of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio? No, this is not a joke...they were all waiting for their turn to rappel almost 250 feet down the side of the PNC Bank Building! And all four did just that in our agency's inaugural Over the Edge for Kids' Sake fundraising event last fall.
We are looking for rappellers to try their hands (and feet) at the same feat on June 21 (no experience necessary!). It's coming up fast, so if you are ready to rappel for the kids, now is the time to register and start fundraising to directly support our programs serving thousands of kids in central Ohio. And if you recruit additional friends, you will receive a credit for each. The funds you raise help us empower kids to achieve their dreams and succeed in life!
Trust Brutus, Monic a, Ed and Lori -- it will be one of the most memorable experiences of your life! To register and start fundraising, please click here.
For more information, check out our website or email Lori Brown. |
Project Mentor Completes Another Great Year |
On May 23, Project Mentor volunteers will come together to celebrate with the 2013 Project Mentor graduating class. SERVING AT-RISK KIDS
Did you know Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio leads a collaborative of Ohio Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies serving children of incarcerated parents (Amachi Ohio), and also foster care youth (Connecting the Dots)? Both of these programs help kids who face additional challenges in their lives. And a recent independent study by Public/Private Ventures found that higher-risk youth like these who were paired with mentors reported better grades, greater acceptance by peers and fewer depressive symptoms. Mentoring works!
THANK YOU, AVEDA!
It was a fashion-forward evening at the LC Pavilion in April when Aveda Institute Columbus graduates showcased their talents in a very special runway show. And proceeds from the 2013 Aveda Institute Earth Jam event are coming to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio to benefit the Environmental Education programs at our Camp Oty'Okwa in the Hocking Hills. Special thanks to our friends at Aveda Institute Columbus! |
