SARASOTA - The Right Reverend Dabney T. Smith, Fifth Bishop of the Diocese of Southwest Florida, will ordain three this June.

 

The Rev. Charles Roy Allison II will be ordained at St. Mary's Bonita Springs, the Rev. Michelle A. Ortiz will be ordained at Holy Innocents Valrico and William "Billy" Daniel will be ordained at St. John's Tampa. More

NAPLES - Trinity-by-the-Cove begins church planting effort targeted for six church plants, raising $352,000. 

  • North Naples (became St. John's)
  • Marco Island (became St. Mark's)
  • East Naples (became St. Paul's)
  • Immokalee (became St. Barnabas, now closed)
  • Everglades City (never came about)
  • Golden Gate (never came about)

A tithe of $32,000 was set aside for the Diocesan Expansion Program.

 

Blue Book of General Convention Now Available  

 

NEW YORK - The Report to the 77th General Convention, commonly referred to as The Blue Book, is available to download as a PDF for no charge at the Episcopal Church General Convention website generalconvention.org

 

General Convention 2012 will be held July 5 - 12 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. The Blue Book, at more than 750 pages, contains reports of the committees, commissions, agencies and boards to the General Convention, as well as more than 150 "A" Resolutions submitted as part of those reports that will be considered at the July event.

Altar Guild Builds Web Page on Episcopalswfl.org

   

SARASOTA - Peggy Curlin, secretary of the Altar Guild, is now updating the Diocesan Altar Guild page. This enables her committee to change the page, add events, add contact lists, add photos and create news about the Altar Guild as the committee feels is necessary.

 

Other groups and committees of the Diocese can supervise their own page, which enables committees to post to their pages as they wish. If you are interested, contact  gpollard@episcopalswfl.org.

DaySpring Camp Deadline Approaches 

 

PARRISH - Camp slots are filling up for the two summer camps at DaySpring:

  • Elementary Summer Camp: This camp is for rising 3rd through 5th grade students, and runs from June 17-22, 2012
  • Middle School Summer Camp: This camp is for rising middle school students (grades 6-8) and runs from June 24-29, 2012.
