Why Music Tracks Get Rejected
Sad FaceMark Lewis over at MusicLoops.com shared his thoughts on why music tracks get rejected. Here are a couple of reasons and the rest are on the site at Why Music Tracks Get Rejected. Check it out!

3. Final Mix is Too Low
Some of you need to buy a compressor/limiter plugin to pump up your volume in the final mix. The music has to be in your face even if it is a romantic string quartet. If the loudest thing in your preview is the audio watermark saying 'preview' then you probably need to remix and pump it up a bit.

4. Drum Loops With Something On Top
Whenever I hear something that is just a stock drum loop with something played over the top I reject it. There has to be some production value, even a cymbal crash, dynamics, breakdowns, etc. If it sounds like it was thrown together in an afternoon then I usually reject it. This happens quite a bit with just a few composers.

Robin's Good Eatin'
ROOT VEGETABLE MEDLEY

This recipe calls for a clay cooker. For anyone who hasn't seen one of these, it's a beautiful terra cotta roasting pan, usually oval-shaped. You can buy them at places like Sur La Table and Williams-Sonoma. I saw that there is a Romertopf on line at Amazon reasonably priced. (We were lucky - My sister found one at a yard sale for $1.00!) But once you have tried cooking in one, you will be hooked! If you don't have a clay
cooker you can roast the vegetables in any covered pan, but the clay cooker makes the veggies sing! This is just one of many recipes, but it's a good one. (From Taste of Home Community - community.tasteofhome.com/forums)

1 large yam, peeled
1 turnip, peeled
1 sweet onion, peeled
2 parsnips, peeled
2 carrots, peeled
2 apples, peeled and cored (any variety)
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic (or you can peel a couple of cloves and put them in whole)
1 ½ tsp. Thyme
1 ½ tsp. Rosemary, chopped
salt and black pepper, to taste (in clay cookers don't be too stingy with the salt.)

Soak a medium size clay cooker in water for at least 15 minutes. Cut all root vegetables and apples into 1-inch chunks and place in cooker. In a small bowl combine olive oil, garlic, thyme, rosemary, salt and pepper. Pour over root vegetables and toss to coat. Cover and set in a cold oven. Set oven to 450 degrees and cook for 45 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Stir, drain off any excess oil and serve immediately.

Robin's Yoga For The Stressed-Out Composer

Robin Side Stretch
STANDING SIDE STRETCH

This is an easy stretch you can do almost anytime or anywhere. It helps to alleviate tension and stretches the intercostal muscles between the ribs, creating more space in the lungs so that you can breathe easier and deeper, which in turn will help you to feel more awake and invigorated.

Begin in mountain pose, feet hip-width distance, toes pointing straight ahead, weight evenly distributed on all four corners of the feet, arms down at your sides. Inhale and raise your arms straight up overhead. You can hold on to opposite wrist or make "steeple fingers" above your head. (or you can raise the right arm to bend left and vice-verse with the other arm at your side.)  Feel the stretch through your arms and into your fingertips. On an exhale reach up out of the waist to bend side-ways to the left.Hold for at least three breaths, then on an inhale, lift and lower the arms again as you come out of the bend to return to mountain pose. Repeat on the other side. For a deeper stretch, after raising your arms, exhale and shift your weight causing your hips to slide to the right while you bend to the left from the waist. Hold the stretch for at least three breaths.

Remember - If your breath becomes labored in any way, that's your body's way of telling you to ease up a little. Never force anything! NOTE: Every standing pose in yoga is really - among other things - a balance pose. If you ever feel unsteady, you can practice these poses against a wall for support. You will still get every benefit, and maybe more because you won't have to worry about tipping over!
