Bluegrass Worship under the Oaks
|
A cool summer morning in the shade of large oak trees, worshiping our God in His creation to bluegrass music? Yes, please!
On Sunday, July 31, the 8:30 service usually held in the Fellowship Hall will take place on the front lawn of the church. A bluegrass music team will lead us in singing "This Is My Father's World," "I Need Thee Every Hour," "Grace Greater Than Our Sin," "He Leadeth Me," and "I'll Fly Away." Bring a camping chair or spread your blankets on the grass and gather to worship our Triune God!

Worship Committee Looking for Volunteers
|

If there is one thing we know about ourselves at FPC, it's that a meaningful worship experience is central to everything else in our church life. For many years the same volunteers have helped make that possible every Sunday morning and on special holy days. It is now time to let these faithful stewards take a seat. We are looking for fresh volunteers to assist in each of these areas:
- Recruiting and coordinating ushers
- Maintaining sanctuary candles
- Coordinating flowers, Christmas decorations, Easter palms
- Preparing the elements for communion
- Assisting as liaison between church and family for weddings
No commitment is consuming, and each brings its own blessings and satisfactions. Each has a job description and a Worship Committee member eager to share years of knowledge with someone who can commit to being part of the team. Please give your prayerful consideration to committing your time to provide the best possible worship experience. For more information or to volunteer, contact Beth Flannagan at 423-764-7875 or bethflannagan74@gmail.com, or simply chat with Scottie Bales, Karen Boone, Emily Hyder, Candy Phelps, Loretta Thomas, or Charles Webb.

Mowers, Mowers Burning Bright
|
Hats off to FPC's faithful mowers! We hope they will keep their hats on as they wheel around in high summer on that sun-loving Tiger Cat. If you catch sight of Jim White this week, Pat Flannagan next week, or JB Madison in the first week of August, bear in mind that overheated fauna respond well to offers of liquid refreshment.
If you would like to help us mow, Randy Cook will be happy to give you a quick lesson on our Scag mower. We welcome adults and teens, men and women for what we hope will be regular duty. If you can pitch in for even a single morning or afternoon, please email Randy at npolecook@aol.com or call his cell at 423-956-1541. Thank you!

All are welcome to join us! The Cherub Choir (age 4 through grade 1) won't be too far behind, as they will get back in the swing of things on Rally Day, Sunday, August 7, at 9:00 a.m. in the children's choir room. More details on other music ensembles later!
Program of note: James O'Reilly will present a program of music for saxophone and piano in our sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5. He will be accompanied by Vicki Fey, and violinist Cameron Lugo will make a guest appearance. There will be no charge for this program, but a freewill offering will be collected for Bristol Faith in Action.
