At Youth Homes, we value the importance of nurturing the heart and rewarding positive behavior.  This is practiced in our residential facilities and all of our supporting programs as well as our within our company culture.

The Youth Homes Annual Celebration of Hope is centered on appreciating our youth, volunteers and staff but it is our youth that always "steal the show" each and every year.  We celebrate our many accomplishments together allowing our youth a platform to showcase their gifts and talents.   This year, youth sang their hearts out with several performances as well as youth displaying art work, while two youth showed off their piano playing skills and others shared poetry readings.

Through the Joanne Taylor Scholarship Fund, seven youth in our Aftercare Program were awarded monies to further their education at the University of San Francisco, California State University East Bay and Sacramento, as well as sending students to community colleges such as Los Medanos and Diablo Valley College. In addition to this, several youth were acknowledged for gaining employment through the Summer Garden Program and TAY Work Program.

Employees were acknowledged for their years of service and the Auxiliary volunteers and officers were thanked for their dedication and hard work throughout the years.

Youth Homes would like to thank the Auxiliary luncheon committee for providing such a fabulous lunch and a big round of applause to the Auxiliary for providing such wonderful memories that we know our kids will carry with them for many years to come.

Budget

Historic State Budget Supports Vulnerable Youth in California

Last week Governor Brown signed a budget dedicating funding to protect and serve child victims of sex trafficking through the child welfare system. This is an historic occasion, offering services and programs for these youth, many of whom are often already entangled in the foster care system.

The 2014-15 State Budget includes funding to provide services through the newly established Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (SCEC) Program. In addition, the budget trailer bill specifically defines a child of sexual trafficking as a victim of child abuse, moving away from the current response which labels these young people as criminals. By changing these definitions, CSEC are provided the tools and support they need to recover from their trauma and move towards a successful future. We extend our heartfelt gratitude towards the state governor and legislature in their understanding that these children are victims, not perpetrators.

For the past 49 years Youth Homes, Inc. has dedicated itself to stopping human trafficking. We have seen young and vulnerable foster kids bullied, threatened and coerced into a life of prostitution. We have succeeded in providing a safe and loving environment to counter these predators. We are working against the human trafficking industry that now accounts for 32 billion dollars in profits every year.

Your support is helping to stop this assault on the most
vulnerable of our society. Your gifts are needed now to Donate Online Now!
help continue our efforts to protect kids from the sex trafficking industry.

Your support really does make a huge difference.

Thank you,
Stu Sig
