DoItAgain
Greetings!

Here at Youth Homes, we understand the importance of working one-on-one with kids. Staff in the Therapeutic Behavioral Services Program (TBS), are paired with children based on gender, age, language, and even personality.  One TBS staff member, William Lowery recounts a recent experience where a child was very withdrawn and distrusting of adults and how he overcame this challenge.

"I realized I had to get down on his level and throw out being in control for just being present as a caring adult in order to break through."

It takes much thought and flexibility to successfully develop a trusting rapport with these children and active role modeling and play is an important piece of the puzzle in helping them feel comfortable. TBS provides behavior modification skills and tools to children at risk of losing their placement in school, at home, or within a group home.

When working with new clients, TBS staff ask key questions and listen intently. This is crucial in developing a personalized treatment plan for each individual child.  Along the way, this plan is regularly assessed with key management staff to ensure success.

We consider all of our TBS staff heroes and we know they do it because they care.  Youth Homes would like to thank all of our wonderful TBS staff for the important work they do.

You are changing lives and making a difference!

AuxiliaryThe Thrift Store Grand Re-Opening

Did you know, you can support Youth Homes by shopping at and donating items to The Youth Homes Auxiliary Thrift Store? It's true - there are some pretty great finds waiting for you at this upscale Pleasant Hill thrift store.

What's even better than finding a great bargain?  Knowing your donations and purchases support foster youth in need.

The Auxiliary will be rolling out the red carpet on March 6th, 2014 at 5:00 pm launching the grand re-opening of the store and celebrating 20 years in the community. This event will showcase the thrift store while raising awareness in the community of the important work we are doing to help foster youth.

The Auxiliary is made up of an "all volunteer staff"; more everyday heroes among us.

What's Mine is Yours, local non-profit organization started by HS teens Paige and Katie, held their second annual pop-up event for foster youth. "Never underestimate the power of giving. That is what drove us to pursue an idea to make a difference in our community."  This non-profit organization is dedicated to collecting and donating the necessary clothing, and delivering them to local girls in need. The annual pop up event held at Seven Hills School, showcases all the beautiful clothing and accessories the girls collect throughout the year in a boutique type setting.  It pampers girls within the foster care system and boosts their self esteem. It's a "girls day out shopping spree" free of charge! Needless to say, It was once again a tremendous success.
