Greetings!
"Youth Homes has really shaped my personality a lot and it has made me become more patient which is really important in life. Foster care has taught me to speak up and seek the services that I need. I wasn't able to ask for what I needed because I used to feel bad that I needed help until I realized everyone needs help, and gets help at some point. I had lived in 10 or more placements before I lived in Youth Homes. It is the best placement home I ever had because I was surrounded by positive adults who actually cared for me, who restored my confidence and trust in people again. I had gone through so much I didn't trust anyone. The Youth Homes staff changed my outlook on people again and showed me that not all people are bad. I want to thank Youth Homes for everything they have done for me."

The above quote is from a recent scholarship recipient, honored at a ceremony with our partner, Alamo Women's Club. This wonderful group and their members have been strong proponents for the foster youth in our care and their involvement and support has made a tremendous difference in the lives of our young people. During the festivities, a total of six youth received scholarships to continue educational opportunities. Thank you Alamo Women's Club for making a difference in the lives of foster youth! |

Cherry Lane Open House and Tour
Youth Homes would like to thank all those that attended the open house and tour at Cherry Lane on Friday, May 10th. Youth Homes hosted over 25 members of the community. Participants were greeted with coffee and snacks and then a tour of the home and gardens began. The newly planted orchard left all in awe with its newly budding fruit trees. In the gardens, several guests took home fresh artichokes. Pictured left, Lorrie Cockrum and DeAnne Cardona from HC Financial Advisors. To view more pictures of the open house tour, please visit our Facebook page here. If your group would like to become more involved in the community and are interested in a tour of our homes or gardens, please email laurelp@youthhomes.org

Youth Homes Gives Back to the Community
East Bay Shelter and Andersen House Supervisors P hil Bureau and Donna Heimbruch (pictured right) participated at St. Paul's Episcopal Church during their Stop Hunger Now event. They each took two residents and participated with 200 volunteers packaging 60,000 meals to be sent to schools and orphanages all over the world! Our youth had a wonderful opportunity to volunteer alongside other community members while they learned the joy of giving back. We are so lucky to have such amazing Supervisors working with our kids! We were also very pleased to support St. Paul's in this very important work.

Ways to Give Programs & Services Auxiliary Thrift Shop Join us on Facebook

Did you know that Whole Foods Market gives a percentage of sales to a chosen Community Partner? On Wednesday, June 5th at the Walnut Creek Whole Foods, 5% of all the day's sales will be donated back to Youth Homes!
We LOVE our donors! We hope those of you that attended our Major Donor Appreciation party on April 24th at Eleve Restaurant had an outstanding time! The atmosphere was relaxed as donors were able to mingle, meet the staff, and hear more about our programs and services.

Dear Friends,
Thank you to all those who have given generously to support the work of Youth Homes. We are striving to improve very facet of our programs. Through our Pro-Act training, we are striving to improve our ability to "de-escalate" our young residents before they have a temper tantrum. Through our training in Nurtured Heart, we are teaching our kids that the meaning of life does not come from negative experiences. Unfortunately, if that is all you have ever known as a child, that is what you create in your life. Our kids have come to believe that negative attention is at least some kind of attention. If you have not given and would like to find out how your donation can support foster youth that are not funded by state or county dollars - just click the gold star below.
Or send your check payable to: Youth Homes, Inc. 1855 Olympic Blvd, Suite 225, Walnut Creek, CA 94596
Together, your support creates emotional healing, academic success, and prepares the way for our families to build healthy, productive lives. We could not do this without you!
