Greetings!

Happy October, named so after the Latin root "Octo" which means eight (October was the eight month back when the Roman Calendar was in use) or "Ocho" in Spanish! Ok, you guessed it; I have second languages on my mind! Since this school year has begun; I'm helping with the grandchildren's homework....YIKES! I kind of didn't do well with learning Spanish, let alone English, and now I have one grandson, Austin, 5, and my oldest granddaughter, Kara, 11, learning Spanish ...can you say, "YIKES"! Despite me, they are doing just fine. I'm thinking they're learning even more by correcting me, LOL!

September flew by and now it's a month with extended warm weather...so nice! So much to enjoy this month, so get out enjoy the local football games, harvest fests, pumpkin carving and of course, the finale, Halloween. Get out your costumes, friends. If you don't have a costume, try a little face painting...be a fool for a day and laugh at yourself; it's good for the soul and a source of entertainment for others! October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month so please make your annual visit for a mammogram and do something to support the cause. There are so many opportunities to do this, check out these links to see how:  http://www.debreastcancer.org/  GreatStuffResale.com

Blessings,

You Are Cordially Invited!

These days there are at least 3-4 invitations that come through the mail, email, Facebook and other event social media. Invitations to birthday parties, workshops, lectures, anniversary parties, bon voyage parties, awards dinners, weddings, company picnics and this list is just scratching the surface! The truth is we all have the need to either attend an important event or give one from smaller groups to the larger grander events and no matter what size it is, 2 or 3 friends to hundreds, you must start with an invitation!!

How you invite someone to your party, what the  invitation looks like and when you send it, can determine the results or the attendance.  Have you ever heard the response, "Well, if I had only known last week" or " I don't remember, what did the envelope look like?" While timing is huge, there is also the WOW factor that plays a big part of it too. There is nothing more exciting than getting a beautiful, thoughtful invitation in the mail or email that shows a little something special; something that makes you want to attend and send in your response right away!

I would like to share two great examples of clients who decided to throw very important events; both uniquely different in purpose. One a Law Firm and another, a Bride-to-Be (my dear sister), wanting to get married in
less than a month. Two different types of invitations and both so creative and cool -I  mean right up my alley- I just had to take on the challenge!

I needed to provide the perfect custom illustrations with all the magnetic appeal that my clients could mail or email in time for their guests could check their calendars and RSVP in time.

The invitation for the Law Firm was a Halloween Party theme. The goal was to appeal to the Real Estate Agents they work with as an appreciation Open House.  Mr. Lacy Holly, whom I have worked with before, is an out-of-the box creative and I appreciate the fun factor he was willing invest in for the ultimate wow factor! He wanted the cool factor with the touch of elegance and I couldn't wait to get started. He wanted me to illustrate something with a nod to the awesome illustrator, Tim Burton---halloweenish. The final illustration was so fun and the total package was put together with beautiful burnt orange paper, envelope, matching RSVP envelopes, complete with the US Constitution ship stamps---who wouldn't love to get this in the mail?

The Wedding illustrated invitation would be a total Email Invitation, I must admit I wasn't sure about the concept, but it was clever and very well received! As a matter of fact, I have witnessed even the most well planned and top-notch elegant weddings not come together as much as this one. The weather cooperated and the backdrop was picturesque. I even ask the couple to pose for me as I snapped a quick shot of Life Imitating Art--L OL! The little black poodle in the illustrated was my sister's dog, Zorro, who recently passed away and she wanted him in the illustration too.

Illustrations are a great way to set the tone for any event.  It sets up your guests to feel something
before they ever get to the party or special meeting. I have had the privilege to work with many event planners and creative clients who have put in the time to create special illustrative art pieces that have served as invitations, save the dates, posters, special giveaways or take away pieces that the attendees will hold on to and remember for a long time. I ask you, "Isn't that what you want to happen?"  If you are
planning something special and

you are investing your time and finances, I would think you want to be sure the attendance is high and the interest ispeaked-- to share and enjoy your special event or celebratory gathering!
