 | The Faces of Adoption Searches |
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services-Children's Bureau, approximately 50,000 children are adopted each year in the United States. Of those 50,000 children, countless lives are affected. Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, and newly adopting parents are all involved in an event that will undoubtedly change their lives. Arkansas Investigations recently had the pleasure of working with one such client-a former adoptee-now, a grown man from Kentucky. The Role of a Private Investigator in Adoption Searches
|
Adoption searches are one of the most complex investigative searches to conduct. Arkansas has limited public records regarding adoptions, so it was highly beneficial to learn that the client was born in a small rural community. Community members were able to provide Arkansas Investigations with information regarding the two adoptive families', and we were able to locate the biological brother. One challenging component of such an investigation can be the disclosure process. When conducting investigations of this matter, the disclosure is always made to the located individual. We made the brother aware his sister was looking for him, and as it turned out, he never knew he had a sister! In the end, both parties were happily reunited and now have a refreshing new outlook on their heritage.
As you can see, adoption searches have many moving parts and involve various aspects. To someone with no or limited investigative experience, the process could be overwhelming if not impossible! With rigid state laws, persistence is key. An adoption search must begin with... Read more
