Hi All!
|
Are there people who have increased their IQ that you might have heard of? Sure! Remember Gabby Gifford, the US representative from Tucson who was shot in the head? What do you think her IQ was as she lay in the hospital? Let's look at a video about her recovery, delivered by Bob Woodruff, who also suffered a severe head injury in Iraq.
Now, look at a much more recent video of Gabby. Did her brain functioning improve? How about her IQ - which measures brain functioning?
Yes, the brain can change!! At any age!! It's called neuroplasticity, and science has known about it for decades, yet I still hear from school personnel and medical professionals that IQ can't change.
if you missed a newsletter head over towww.pyramidofpotential.com/read-newsletters/ to read any you have missed.

Let's look at some individual cases
My first client was Susan, a learning disabled child who completed primitive reflex integration, cranio-sacral therapy, listening therapy, vision therapy, and cognitive training for memory, attention, processing speed and more. Let's take a look at her IQ scores, as reported by an independent clinical psychologist:

Notice that in 2001 before therapy, her lowest score was 5, "borderline MR" (language of the day - today we call MR Intellectually Disabled). Her highest score was 14. Two years later, her lowest score was 10 - Average - and her highest was 16 - Superior. Wow - yes, IQ actually changed!! By a lot! Anecdotally, she left all remedial classes, went to college with no accommodations or tutors, graduated with over a 3.0 cum while opening an art gallery and holding down 2 other part-time jobs. It took a lot of work for her tog to this point, but according to her it was worth it.
She was the reason I got started in this business. I did not deliver all of the therapies, but I learned what I could and continue to use outside professionals for what I cannot do.
Next let's look at some adults.
Below are the results from coaches who trained in the Brain Advancement Coaching program. More information at www.brainadvancementteam.com. The numbers represent percentiles: 50th percentile is average.

RK, age 35, went from 16th percentile in processing speed to 49th percentile in 4 months, one hour a day, 5 days a week! This is actually very typical. Other clients: Below are the scores from several of my clients from different walks of life. All scores are "age-equivalent", and calculations are based on averages from people of the same age. Final thought: Let me leave you today with a quote from Mark Kelley, Gabby Gifford's husband: "Optimism is a form of healing and hope is a form of love." Let's all give those who have learning struggles optimism and hope! Kathy

Why Am I A Brain Trainer
| Kathy Johnson of Pyramid of Potential gives hope to the world. About 1 in 5 people have an issue with their brain - autism, dementia, Alzheimers, learning disabilities, stroke, TBI, and more. Because of neuroplasticity (knowing that the brain can change and improve), research shows that the symptoms of these problems can be overcome, and the affected person can have success and progress. Because of Kathy's passion, she has helped many people since 1999 to overcome brain issues. You can be a brain trainer too!! www.brainadvancementteam.com |
