Greetings!
Fenway Park wasn't the only place rocking in Boston this past month - as the Tennis & Racquet Club officially re-opened after "Raising the Roof". It was quite the weekend, full of competitive tennis, a great exhibition and of course, some great parties. Read all about the festivities in Matt Mitchell's report.
Earlier in the month, the youngest juniors took to the court in Newport for the Under 12 and Under 15 Singles and Doubles. Erik Barker was the big winner, while the eagerness to learn and sportsmanship on court by all of the participants was phenomenal.
I'm happy to report that no storms got in the way of Chicago's Invitational Doubles. The weekend was a spectacular success as Chicago has established itself as one of the "must play" courts.
Meanwhile, World Number One Ranked Player - Camden Riviere - won the European Open and the IRTPA Championships in the UK, and then headed off to Australia to claim the Victorian Open Title. That's a lot of frequent flyer miles and a lot of hardware to lug home. Congratulations Camden!
There are lots of tournaments for all levels in November. Of special note is the Testimonial Dinner for Ed Noll during the Jimmy Dunn Doubles in Philadelphia. Ed Noll, the former Head Professional in Philadelphia and the current manager is certainly one of the legends in the game. The evening will be very special, so make an effort to support the night.
Mark your calendars for the USCTA Annual Awards Dinner and Auction in New York on December 13. Held during the Whitney Cup weekend, it's a great chance to see some top-notch tennis, applaud the Annual Awards Recipients and bid on some fabulous auction items.
Finally, check out the mystery inheritance on the RTO Forum page. And last, but not least....Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Until next month...
Sincerely,

2013 U12, U15's
by Jane Lippincott

The Under 12 and Under 15 -singles and doubles-were played in Newport. Eight juniors from Washington and Newport competed in the weekend event which featured non-stop tennis from start to finish.
Erik Barker, age 12, dropped only one game on his way to winning both the Under 12 and under 15 singles titles. Ben Dickinson, age 10, took a game off Barker in the Under 12 final. Barker won the Under 12 Doubles with Ben Dickinson over Tess Browne and Will Harkins. Barker and Browne defeated Ben and Pete Dickinson for the Under 15 Doubles title.
The format for the weekend was a series of 15 minute matches, which insured that all players got lots of court time. On court drills, coaching tips from the pros combined with lots of match play led to a remarkable level improvement for all of the players over the weekend.
Thanks to Rich Smith and Sergio Lopez for running a great weekend for the juniors. Thanks also to Paul and Robin Harkins for hosting the Saturday night party for the players. And finally, thank you to the late John Lieb for having the foresight to create a junior tennis fund - the Lieb Fund - which funds junior tennis in Newport.

RIVIERE ON A ROLL

Camden Riviere continued his winning streak by winning three events on two continents in October.
Riviere won the Europen Open at Lord's on October 9, defeating Rob Fahey in the final - 6/4,5/6,3/6,6/2,6/3. Then it was off to Manchester for the IRTPA Championships to meet Fahey again in the finals. This time the score was 6/3,3/6,6/2,6/3.
After a short stay of nine days in the UK, Riviere headed off to Melbourne for the Victorian Open. In the final, Riviere defeated Kieran Booth - 6/3,6/2, 1/6,6/1.
Quite a successful whirlwind tour!
