Hello fellow road safety professionals,

I'm Bud Chauncy.  Many of you may know me from the presentations I have done at DSAA Seminars and Conventions. My wife Jill and I operate a small driving school (3-5 cars) in the northwestern corner of Louisiana, about 6 hours northwest of New Orleans.

It is my privilege to begin a two year term as your President.  It is an honor to be working with such a dedicated group of professionals on the DSAA Board as well as with you, a DSAA Member.  Please be sure to renew your Membership either online or  download a printable form and send/fax in your 2013 annual dues.

I encourage you to get involved with your organization, by contacting your Regional Vice-president,attending DSAA Courses, coming to Board Meeting and conferences. The benefits of participating in your Association will come back to you ten-fold.

Your suggestions and ideas about how to improve your Association are important to us.  As operators of small businesses, our members face similar challenges on a daily basis. Don't hesitate to call your Regional VP , the communication office or send me an email or call me if I may be of any help to you.

Our next DSAA training opportunity will be hosted by Immediate Past-President Sharon Fife of D & D Driving School, located in Kettering, (Dayton) Ohio. It will begin with a DCA Decision Making Course from April 2-5, 2013.  Followed by a DCA I & II Course from April 8-16, 2013.

What is a DCA and how can it benefit you and your School?

You will be happy to hear that our next Training Seminar/Board Meeting will be in warm and sunny Orlando, Florida, April 26-27.  We are working on the Agenda along with Speakers.  Your suggestions are encouraged.

Register ONLINE or FAX your REGISTRATION to 937-290-0696.

Watch your email for a special announcement about the DSAA

CNG
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Powered Vehicles:

Is this the ideal Driver Training Vehicle?

Don't blow this off because you have not heard much about this alternative fuel. For a good overview, Click Here.  CNG averages about $1.50 less per gallon than regular gas and it does not fluctuate much. And when it does drop, it's during the summer!

The price isn't influenced by the Middle East because it ALL comes from domestic sources.

Currently, the only factory-built CNG Vehicle is the Honda Civic GX. It gets the same gas mileage as regular gas with significantly less emissions.  For eight years in row, it has been rated first as the "Greenest Vehicle of the Year" by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.

The GX costs about $6,000 more than a regular Civic, but you may convert your regular vehicle ($5k to 10K) to CNG too.  Either way, you may qualify for a State or Provincial Rebate, CLICK HERE.

Be sure to look for (AFV) Tax Credit.  Some jurisdictions also provide a Tax Credit or Rebate for creating your own Fueling Infrastructure.

You may be saying to yourself, "It all sounds good, but I never see any places where I can buy this CNG." Here are a couple sites that provide the locations:  US Dept. of EnergyUS and Canadian Locations, and both Android and iPhone have apps for locating CNG stations.  Just some fuel for thought...
