Please join us next Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 9:00 am for the PTA Meeting & Principal's Coffee, followed by a special book club discussion of How to Raise an Adult.
How to Raise an Adult - Book Club 4/13/16 and Author Appearance 5/2/16

The Chesterbrook PTA is pleased to work in conjunction with the Safe Community Coalition (SCC) and other local elementary, middle, and high schools by forming a book club to discuss Julie Lythcott-Haims' book How to Raise an Adult.  Ms Lythcott-Haims is a noted author and former Dean of Freshman at Stanford University, and in her book she presents a convincing vision of the problems inherent in overprotected, overparented, and over-scheduled kids.  Her book offers a smart, compassionate alternative approach for parents who want to foster hearty self-reliance.

The SCC is sponsoring Ms. Lythcott-Haims at the McLean High School Auditorium on Monday, May 2, at 6:30pm and tickets (for $20) can be purchased online at http://raiseanadult.bpt.me.

In advance of Ms Lythcott-Haim's presentation, the Chesterbrook PTA will hold a Book Club Discussion on Wednesday, April 13, at 9:00 am, following the monthly PTA business.  We encourage you to start reading the book and come to our meeting prepared to take part or just listen to the discussion.  A mental health professional from the SCC will be moderating the discussion.

Please RSVP at: Click Here.  Feel free to invite a friend or neighbor to join you.
Gap in your child's summer schedule? Check out the Chesterbrook PTA's Summer Quest!

Summer Quest is sponsored by the Chesterbrook PTA and provides fun, educational sessions for your elementary school child over four (4) one-week sessions each summer, with morning and afternoon sessions and an after-camp program.  The sessions are primarily taught by Chesterbrook Elementary teachers. Camps will run in week-long sessions July 11 - August 5 with classes for rising kindergartners through rising 7th graders.  Cost is $160 per session.

Spaces are still available in some classes, so don't delay and register today!  And spread the word to friends and neighbors, as Summer Quest is open to ALL students.

Have You Lost Something?

The lost and found cupboard in the cafeteria is bursting with forgotten winter clothing that kids have left behind. These lost things want to get home!

If you are missing a glove, coat or other item, please stop by and see ... it just might be there. (It is currently so full that it is hard to see things and even if your child may have looked once, it could be hiding and need a second look.)
