Summer Quest - Registration Underway!

Summer Quest, sponsored by the Chesterbrook PTA, provides fun, educational sessions for your elementary school child over four (4) one-week sessions each summer, with morning and afternoon sessions and an after-camp program.  The sessions are primarily taught by Chesterbrook Elementary teachers. Camps will run in week-long sessions July 11 - August 5 with classes for rising kindergartners through rising 7th graders.  View the 2016 Summer Quest Catalog and the 2016 Quick Reference Guide.  Questions?  Please email summerquest@chesterbrookpta.org.

How to Raise an Adult - Author Appearance and Book Club

The Chesterbrook PTA is pleased to work in conjunction with the Safe Community Coalition (SCC) and other local elementary, middle, and high schools by forming a book club to discuss Julie Lythcott-Haims' book How to Raise an Adult.  Ms Lythcott-Haims is a noted author and former Dean of Freshman at Stanford University, and in her book she presents a convincing vision of the problems inherent in overprotected, overparented, and over-scheduled kids.  Her book offers a smart, compassionate alternative approach for parents who want to foster hearty self-reliance.

The SCC is sponsoring Ms. Lythcott-Haims at the McLean High School Auditorium on Monday, May 2, at 6:30pm and tickets (for $20) can be purchased online at http://raiseanadult.bpt.me.

In advance of Ms Lythcott-Haim's presentation, the Chesterbrook PTA will hold a Book Club Discussion on Wednesday, April 13, at 9:00 am, following the monthly PTA business.  We encourage you to start reading the book and come to our meeting prepared to take part or just listen to the discussion.  A mental health professional from the SCC will be moderating the discussion.
