Class Basket It's Almost Time for Fun Fair!

Fun Fair is only 8 weeks away and collection for the AMAZING class baskets has already begun! 

There are several ways to contribute:
  • Shop for something on your own that corresponds to your grade's theme(s)
  • Go in with other parents on a bigger ticket item (room parents can help coordinate)
  • Donate unwanted or duplicate holiday/birthday gifts or gift cards;
  • Make a cash/check donation to the Chesterbrook PTA and we'll do the shopping for you.
Basket Themes:
  • Kindergarten - Let's Eat! Out or In?
  • 1st Grade - Lego Lover or American Girl Doll Lover
  • 2nd Grade - Under Armour Awesomeness or Girls Got Style
  • 3rd Grade - Family Fun Night
  • 4th Grade - Sleepover Fun
  • 5th Grade - Summer Fun
  • 6th Grade - Entertainment

Book Fair Backorders
 
Thanks again for supporting Chesterbrook through the Fall 2015 Book Fair.
According to our records, all backorder purchases have been distributed. If you are still waiting on a backorder, please contact Suzanne Tsitsibelis as soon as possible, as there may have been a recording error in the Bookworm Central system.

SHARE Donations

January not only marks the beginning of a new year, but it also kicks off our annual SCA-sponsored SHARE food drive. Please consider donating the following items:
  • canned soup;
  • canned beans;
  • canned fruit;
  • canned meats;
  • spaghetti sauce;
  • canned vegetables.
Donations can be dropped off at Mrs. Pike's or Mrs. Reid's rooms (206 or 208).

Book Collection

The first grade classes are still in need of books for beginning readers!

If you have any old, slightly used or just unwanted books, please consider donating them the first grade classes.

Books of all genres (as long as they are age appropriate) are greatly appreciated.

 

Books can be dropped off in the first grade hall.

Productive Struggle & Growth Mindset
For Parents of 5th & 6th graders
 
How can we as parents best communicate the values that will lead to success in school and in life?  
 
Come find out on  
Jan. 14th at 7 p.m.at Longfellow Middle School.  
 
Families will explore the value of a growth mindset and hear strategies to help them develop one for themselves and their children. 
 
Mark Your Calendars for International Night
 
On March 11th Chesterbrook's beloved International Night will return!  This delicious and fun event celebrates the wide array of cultures represented at Chesterbrook!  We are looking for volunteers to represent the participating countries.  You can choose a country you are from, a country where your ancestors lived, or just a place you love.

PTA Meeting & Principal's Coffee

Please join us on Jan. 13th at 9 a.m. in the school cafeteria to learn first-hand details about the proposed FCPS Budget.? The budget, presented earlier this month, includes $50 - $75 million in cuts.

Principal Fuqua will be attending to answer questions and address concerns.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to meet our new Librarian, Meredith Reid.

Friends of Chesterbrook

Your donations help support the following PTA programs:
  • Student Support including updated technology (iPads and laptops), STEM programs, grade-wide grants (GRECO/Colonial Days, Science Fair), field trips, as well as PE, art and music equipment.
  • School Support including staff development, teacher stipends, classroom materials (WordMasters, etc.), media center support, and capital expenditures (new common area furniture and whiteboards).
  • Enrichment Programs including cultural arts and science appreciation assemblies, family fun events such as The Brain Show, health and wellness programs, International Night and the Discovery Gardens.
