Before/After School Activity Registration Opens Dec. 14 at 7:00 pm
Don't miss out! Registration for the winter session of our Before and After School Activities opens tomorrow, Monday, December 14 at 7:00 pm. Please visit here for class details and registration information.
Activities for the Winter Session include: Art Brains, Computer & Coding Club: Python Programming, Computer & Coding Club: Electronics with Minecraft Redstone, Computer & Coding Club: Minecraft Modding, Fitness Warriors, Guitar Club, Zumba and more!
Does registration get you anxious? Did you know that parent coordinators are guaranteed one (1) spot for one of their children in the class they chair? We continue to be woefully understaffed with parent volunteers. One parent volunteer coordinator per class is needed in order for this program to continue. Please email Wendy Cumberland if you are willing to serve.

FCPS Funding Update
As has been shared by Dr. Garza, FCPS is facing a $50- $75 million deficit for the next school year and significant cuts are under consideration. The Budget Task Force has released its report, available for review click to view budget. In addition, a 5 minute video presentation on the budget process is also available to review click here to view video.
A non-partisan, grassroots organization named #IAMFCPS has created a website and Facebook page with detailed information for citizens interested taking action to support the full funding of FCPS. Interested parties can support their petition (click here to sign petition) and can write to elected officials (click here to write officials).

 Please hang on to your outgrown bikes!
Chesterbrook's 6th grade is teaming up with Bikes for the World to hold a bike drive in the spring. All donated bikes will be refurbished and sent overseas to help children get to school and the needy get to work. We will be accepting any type of bicycle, adult or child sized, as well as bike helmets. Sixth graders will be able to participate in collecting and preparing the bikes for shipment on the day of the drive (Saturday, April 30, from 10am-2pm).
Please share the word with your neighbors and family and let them know about this unique opportunity to help the 6th graders with community service, as well as change a life. International Night is Coming!
Coming in early 2016: Chesterbrook's beloved International Night! This delicious and fun event celebrates the wide array of cultures represented at Chesterbrook! We are looking for volunteers to represent the participating countries. You can choose a country you are from, a country where your ancestors lived, or just a place you love. Volunteers provide bite-sized snacks from their countries and complete a display board (supplied by the PTA) with fun facts, photographs, mementos, or other interesting items from your chosen country. Winter Break is the perfect time for you to pick up fun items from your chosen country and bring them back. Please email International Night chair Susan Mrachek for more information. |

 Friends of Chesterbrook Your donations help support the following PTA programs: - Student Support including updated technology (iPads and laptops), STEM programs, grade-wide grants (GRECO/Colonial Days, Science Fair), field trips, as well as PE, art and music equipment.
- School Support including staff development, teacher stipends, classroom materials (WordMasters, etc.), media center support, and capital expenditures (new common area furniture and whiteboards).
- Enrichment Programs including cultural arts and science appreciation assemblies, family fun events such as The Brain Show, health and wellness programs, International Night and the Discovery Gardens.
