The school year is up and running! I hope everyone has enjoyed their first week of school and is adjusting to being back in the classroom. The PTA has been busy organizing and planning many fun events and activities for the entire family. Make sure you check out the list of important dates at the end of the email to see what is coming up in the next couple of weeks!

Cultural Diversity Event
 
Are you new to this country or Virginia?
 
Meet other families who have relocated to the area at the PTA's Cultural Diversity Committee meeting on September 18th at 1 p.m.

Please RSVP to Fenny Hurwitz before Sept.15th.

Back to School Night
 
Back to school night is a great opportunity to learn more about what your children will be doing in school this year.

Meet the teachers, learn about the PTA and hear from the CES staff.

Fall Fundraiser

Get your pumpkins, fall plants, and decorations while supporting your school!  

Pick up your orders at school on Sunday, October 4th from 2:00-4:00pm and join us for some fall family fun activities!Orders can also be picked up on Monday, October 5th.

More information and order forms are available here.  Deadline for placing orders is Friday, September 25th.
MCM Fun Run

It's time to sign up for the MCM Kids 1 Mile Fun Run!

Event Details:
  • Oct. 24th (Sat)
  • Pentagon Parking Lot
  • Cost is $7

Become a Room Parent

Serving as a room parent is a great way to get to know your child's teacher, classmates, and fellow parents!

Each class needs a lead room parent, who will be the primary contact with the teacher, and several assistant room parents who help out during the year.  
 
Sign up here to be a room parent.  
 
Deadline for sign up is Friday, September 18.  
Spirit Day

The SCA is excited to kick off the year with our first Spirit Day on Friday, September 25th!

Students are encouraged to wear any Chesterbrook Spirit Wear they own or anything that is blue or yellow.

National PTA Logo Family and Friends

Our annual CES PTA Fundraising Program, Family and Business Friends, has kicked-off for the 2015-16 school year. Your donations help support the following PTA programs:
  • Student Support including updated technology (iPads and laptops), STEM programs, grade-wide grants (GRECO/Colonial Days, Science Fair), field trips, as well as PE, art and music equipment.
  • School Support including staff development, teacher stipends, classroom materials (WordMasters, etc.), media center support, and capital expenditures (new common area furniture and whiteboards).
  • Enrichment Programs including cultural arts and science appreciation assemblies, family fun events such as The Brain Show, health and wellness programs, International Night and the Discovery Gardens.
