What you need to know for the Open House Sept. 4th

It's hard to believe that another school year is about to begin. Where did the summer go? In just a couple weeks, Chesterbrook will open its doors for its annual Summer Open House on Sept. 4th. This is a great opportunity to meet the staff and see new/old friends! And just a few days later, we will be off to the first day of school (Sept. 8th)!
  
As we enter the new school year, we are excited to launch the new PTA newsletter - The Chesterbrook Courier. Issued weekly, The Courier will include information you need to know for the upcoming week -- important dates, deadlines to register for events, upcoming activities etc. So keep a look out in your email inbox each Sunday!

 We hope you enjoy the first edition of the Chesterbook Courier and look forward to seeing you on Sept. 4th!

Open House
 
See friends, find your classroom, and meet your teacher during Chesterbrook's Open House on Sept. 4th.

Kindergarten:
10:00-10:45 a.m.

Grades 1st-6th:
2:00-3:00 p.m.

Ice Cream Social:
3:00-4:00 p.m.
(All Grades - Playground)

New Bell Schedule
 
Beginning in September, changes to the bell schedule will be implemented at Chesterbrook Elementary.

First Bell: 8:30 a.m.
School Starts: 8:50 a.m.
School Ends: 3:35 p.m.

School Supply List

Online school kit orders ended July 31st.  Thank you for your support of this PTA fundraiser!  All school kits purchased will be delivered directly to your child's teacher prior to the start of school.
 
If you still need to purchase school supplies for your child, the supply lists are available here. 
 
If you purchased supplies on your own, there are several items only available through Chesterbrook including:
  • Quick Word Books for 2nd graders;
  • Two recorders for each 3rd grader (as well as new students in grades 3rd-6th);
  • And assignment Notebooks for 3rd-6th graders.
These items can be purchased at the Open House, Sept. 4th, and in the school store the first week of school.  Note: The above items are INCLUDED in the school kits purchased online through the PTA's vendor.
PTA Membership

Did you know you can join or renew your membership to the PTA online? Click here to pay your dues online.
 
PTA dues can also be paid at the Open House Sept. 4th.

PTA dues help fund cultural events, field trips, class materials, and many other worthwhile projects. 
Before & After School Activities
 Mark your calendars... Registration for before and after school activities will begin Tues, Sept. 15th at 7:00 pm.

Register Grocery Cards

Register your Giant Bonus Card and Harris Teeter VIC Cards to save money on your grocery bill and help the PTA earn several thousand dollars that these stores contribute directly to Chesterbrook.

September 3 - Rising Kindergarten Playdate, 5:00pm Chesterbrook Playground.
September 4 - Open House, Kindergarten 10:00-10:45am, Grades 1-6 2:00-3:00pm,
                        3:00-4:00pm Ice Cream Social (All Students).
September 8 - First Day of School.
September 14 - New Parent Coffee with Principal Fuqua and Asst. Principal Paper.
September 15 - Registration for Before/After School Programs Begins! (7 p.m. Online).
September 17 - Back to School Night 7 p.m.
September 17 - PTA Meeting 6:30 p.m. Meet your officers, learn about the budget and
 other PTA planned activities.
