SummerQuest Summer Quest is Coming

Chesterbrook's very own summer camp program, Summer Quest, is just around the corner. Camps will run in week-long sessions July 6 - July 31 with classes for rising kindergartners through rising 7th graders. We'll be offering morning, afternoon, and after camp sessions and are targeting a mid-February registration. You can get an idea of about the policies and range of classes from last year's program.  Proceeds from the Summer Quest camps support Chesterbrook's technology department. If you have any questions about the program, please email summerquest@chesterbrookpta.org.

6th Graders Volunteer at Vinson Hall

Chesterbrook 6th graders visited Vinson Hall on Friday, January 16th and helped make Valentine's for the crew members of the USS Carl Vinson.  Way to go, guys!

Chinese Language Program at McLean High School

As you may know, McLean High School does not offer a Chinese language program at the high school level. The FCPS World Languages department believes the program lacks sufficient interest to warrant continuation into high school. This means that the teaching at Chesterbrook and Longfellow will come to an early end since it will not be possible for our students to continue their pursuit of Chinese. If you support the continuation of a complete Chinese language program in our school pyramid, please write or call the following administrators and let them know that you value this program:

Ellen Reilly, principal of McLean HS at ereilly@fcps.edu
Jane Strauss, school board member at jane.strauss@fcps.edu
Ryan McElveen, school board member at large at ryan.mcelveen@fcps.edu
Gregory Jones, Head of World Languages for FCPS at gjones@fcps.edu

If you have any questions or need further information, please contact Michelle Joss at mjoss@stanfordalumni.org or Delia Swigart at delia_swigart@yahoo.com.

Clip Those Box Tops for Education

It's that time of the year again! The spring submission deadline for Box Tops for Education is Friday, February 20. Ask your neighbors and friends if they can collect the coupons for us. Any little bit helps as each coupon is worth 10 cents to Chesterbrook.

Collecting box tops is so easy! All you need to do is cut out the Box Tops coupons found on General Mills products, put them in a zip-top bag, and have your child drop it off in the "Box Tops for Education" container across from the school Media Center.

If you have any questions, please contact Susie French at thefrenchfamilyfive@gmail.com.

Become a Chesterbrook Friend

THANK YOU to all the Chesterbrook families that have already donated and become a Family Friend of Chesterbrook in 2014-15. See the list of all our generous donors to date.

We invite all Chesterbrook families to participate in our "Family Friends of Chesterbrook" armchair fundraiser. The Friends program is one of Chesterbrook PTA's primary means to support critical student, school, and enrichment needs. We ask for everyone's support of $100 per family to reach our annual goal of $40,000, but your gift of any size is appreciated.

There are two quick and easy ways to give:
1. You can donate online through the PTA website.
2. You can donate by check. Please make checks payable to "Chesterbrook PTA" and forward to school via backpack mail or mail directly to Chesterbrook PTA, 1753 Kirby Road, McLean, VA 22101.
We also accept Corporate Matching Gifts if your company has a program (just send us the form from your company and the PTA will fill it out). Additionally, businesses that donate $500 to our "Business Friends of Chesterbrook" program are recognized on our website and in other ways at school.
