Get to Know the New Staff at Chesterbrook Elementary - Part 2
Correction: In the previous New Staff Article, we had printed that Ms. Carly Guinn was a 3rd Grade teacher, when in fact, she is a 5th Grade teacher. We apologize for that error.
Speaking of the 3rd Grade, we are sad to see Ms. Teske go, but are happy to welcome Jessica Harmon. She is originally from Long Valley, New Jersey. She earned her Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Childhood and Early Adolescent Education, and her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction at Penn State University, Schreyer Honors College. She also double minored in Special Education and Deafness and Hearing. She was a Penn State Varsity Cheerleader for 4 years and has experience coaching/teaching cheerleading and gymnastics. Ms. Harmon was recently, passionately involved with Penn State's Dance Marathon (THON), which was a fundraiser for pediatric cancer that culminated in a 46-hour dance marathon. She loves to spend time with family and friends, and loves football. "It's not always easy being a Jets fan," she said. We look forward to her dedication!
Erica Hirt has joined the Music Department and will be teaching Band. Another great product of FCPS, Ms. Hirt is from Herndon, VA and graduated from Herndon High School. She graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Music Education. This is her third year teaching in Fairfax, County. This year Ms. Hirt teaches elementary band at Chesterbrook, Forestville Elementary in Great Falls, and Armstrong Elementary in Reston. Her favorite thing about teaching at Chesterbrook is getting the opportunity to work with talented and passionate students who take on challenges and enjoy playing their instrument. Welcome to the Chesterbrook Staff! We look forward to seeing you in the halls soon.
