 Chesterbrook Outreach
The PTA School Outreach Committee works with neighboring schools in Fairfax County to provide items for students and families in need. Please consider enlisting the help of your son or daughter in making a grocery card or winter clothing purchase or donation and discuss the importance of helping those less fortunate. We are collecting the following (we especially need grocery gift cards!):
- New or gently used winter clothing (pants, sweaters, sweatshirts, coats, scarves, gloves, hats, shoes and boots), infant thru size 12;
- There is a specific need at one of the schools for new or gently used size 5-6 and size 7-8 boys and girls winter coats; and
- Grocery store gift cards (Safeway, Giant or Shoppers Food Warehouse) -- $10 denominations specifically requested.
Please leave your donations in the plastic bin outside the library marked "PTA School Outreach Collection" or send your gift cards via backpack mail to "PTA School Outreach." If you have any questions, please email Emily Ludwikowski at eludwikowski@gmail.com.Thank you for your support!

Fall Book Fair Wrap-Up
Thank-you to all of the students, parents, staff and others who came and supported our Fall Book Fair! It was a huge success bringing in almost $7,000 for the library which is almost identical to what was raised last year. This amount includes dozens of books purchased for the teachers classrooms which is much appreciated.
Another big thank-you to all of the Book Fair volunteers who helped make it so successful especially to those of you who helped out during the two evening events. The Pizza and Raffle Basket night brought in about $1,000 in additional revenue above and beyond the book sales. Almost 300 raffle tickets were sold and the two lucky winners were 1st grader, Eva Hare, and 2nd grader, Anna Plaskow (pictured below). Congrats to both of them!

Hopefully, we can build on the success of the Fall Book Fair in the spring as well. The Spring Book Fair is scheduled for late April 2015. Be on the look out in the Spring for information on dates, times and volunteer requests.
Thanks again to all those who purchased items and/or volunteered! Your support will help improve an already awesome Chesterbrook library!
Sincerely,
Book Fair Co-Chairs
Robin Birchfield and Julie Schwan

Clip Those Box Tops for Education Thanks to our Chesterbrook ES community we earned nearly $650.00 for our school in this fall's Box Tops for Education submission! We really appreciate all of your work in making this bi-annual fundraiser a success! The spring submission deadline will be Friday, February 20, 2015. Ask your neighbors and friends if they can collect the coupons for us. Any little bit helps as each coupon is worth 10 cents to Chesterbrook. The upcoming holiday cooking will make collecting Box Tops so easy! All you need to do is cut out the Box Tops coupons found on General Mills products, put them in a baggie, and have your child drop it off in the "Box Tops for Education" container across from the school Media Center. If you have any questions, please contact Susie French at thefrenchfamilyfive@gmail.com

We invite all Chesterbrook families to participate in our "Family Friends of Chesterbrook" armchair fundraiser. The Friends program is one of Chesterbrook PTA's primary means to support critical student, school, and enrichment needs. We ask for everyone's support of $100 per family to reach our annual goal of $40,000, but your gift of any size is appreciated. There are two quick and easy ways to give: 1. You can donate online through the PTA website. 2. You can donate by check. Please make checks payable to "Chesterbrook PTA" and forward to school via backpack mail or mail directly to Chesterbrook PTA, 1753 Kirby Road, McLean, VA 22101. We also accept Corporate Matching Gifts if your company has a program (just send us the form from your company and the PTA will fill it out). Additionally, businesses that donate $500 to our "Business Friends of Chesterbrook" program are recognized on our website and in other ways at school. Questions?
