FAQs

Question:  What happens if I miss the June 20 deadline for ordering school supply kits for next year?

Answer:  If you miss this deadline, you can order kits using the Innisbrook 800 number--we just can't guarantee the price of purchase that we have negotiated with Innisbrook for website sales prior to the deadline.

Otherwise, you will need to purchase your own school supplies for your child(ren) for the 2014-2015 school year.  Your PTA offers the school supply kits as a convenience to you. If you would like to order your kit(s) for next year, you can access the supply lists and order kits at the ordering site. It's so easy, and you'll be all set for next year. If you want to purchase your school supplies on your own, please be aware that the lists are very specific; for example, in most grades all students use the same color folders for each subject. It helps everyone stay organized and allows teachers to focus on our kids!

Order School Supply Kits Now Through June 20!
pencils.jpgThe Chesterbrook PTA has decided to work with an outside vendor for school kits this year.  We are following the advice of our volunteers and other area elementary PTAs, who recommend using a more streamlined system for parents and teachers. After consulting with several school kit vendors, we decided to use Innisbrook, a company based in North Carolina with local support.  As in the past, we have worked with teachers to develop supply kit contents with the exact items they'd like to see in the kits. Kits will be delivered to the school prior to the start of the year. Kits will not be available on the PTA website, nor will they be sold during the summer or just prior to the start of school. We will still offer 3rd-6th grade assignment books.

Read more information and our FAQs.

Click here to order your kits, 3rd-6th grade assignment books (required), 2nd grade Quick Word Book, and 2 recorders for 3rd graders (and 4th-6th graders if you don't have 2).

Later HS Start Times
Fairfax County Public Schools is soliciting feedback on four scenarios that would move high school start times after 8 a.m.

If you were unable to attend the community meetings to discuss these scenarios, please use the online form to submit your feedback. The online form will be available beginning May 19 on the  Later High School Start Times web page.

The Fairfax County School Board adopted a resolution in April 2012 to seek solutions that will establish high school start times at 8 a.m. or later. In March 2013, the School Board voted to award a contract to Children's National Medical Center (CNMC) to develop a proposal to achieve this goal. Working with a diverse stakeholder committee, CNMC's Division of Sleep Medicine initiated a process to develop a Blueprint for Change. The committee studied many scenarios to start FCPS high schools after 8 a.m. to improve students' mental and physical health, academic performance, and safety. The School Board reviewed four scenarios at its work session on April 23, and now seeks the community feedback on these options.

Thank you for taking the time to participate either at an upcoming community meeting or through our online feedback form.
