- Grocery Card Asst. Chair
- Terracycle Chair (collecting chip and Capri Sun packets for recycling)

Order School Supply Kits Now Through June 20!
| The Chesterbrook PTA has decided to work with an outside vendor for school kits this year. We are following the advice of our volunteers and other area elementary PTAs, who recommend using a more streamlined system for parents and teachers. After consulting with several school kit vendors, we decided to use Innisbrook, a company based in North Carolina with local support. As in the past, we have worked with teachers to develop supply kit contents with the exact items they'd like to see in the kits. Kits will be delivered to the school prior to the start of the year. Kits will not be available on the PTA website, nor will they be sold during the summer or just prior to the start of school. We will still offer 3rd-6th grade assignment books.
Read more information and our FAQs.
Click here to order your kits, 3rd-6th grade assignment books (required), 2nd grade Quick Word Book, and 2 recorders for 3rd graders (and 4th-6th graders if you don't have 2). If you have any questions, please email Elizabeth Hale.

Students will have a chance to compete against each other and their teachers during the daytime assemblies (when they are not at Field Day) and compete against other families in a fun trivia game atmosphere at the evening show at 6:30. Parents: There are questions only your kids may be able to answer. Kids: Be surprised how smart your parents really are! The Brain Show is taking the country by storm. This interactive trivia game, which is a big hit with all ages, offers authentic fun and excitement of a real live TV game show including colorful podiums featuring computerized lights and sounds.

Field Day
| Field Day is coming up on June 6th. The day is filled with fun activities for grades 1st - 6th.
CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS are needed to help classroom management and lunch organization. If you would like to volunteer and assist teachers with class management and lunch, please notify the classroom teacher directly ASAP. Volunteers are asked to pick up lunches for class at 11:15 then stay with the students in the classroom during the lunch period from 11:30 - 12:00. This enables classroom teachers time to enjoy their lunch with fellow coworkers in the teachers' lounge.
EVENT VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED for field day stations. Volunteers will be grouped with other volunteers and instructions for the event will be given out on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m for 4th - 6th and 12:00 for 1st - 3rd. Volunteers must be able to run the event from start to finish in either the morning or afternoon sessions. If you are interested please sign up HERE . We are looking for approximately 32-40 parent/guardian volunteers. Once all positions are filled, the remaining volunteers will be asked to stay with their children's classroom teacher and aid with class management and organization or just to cheer on your kids. Our makeup date is slated for Friday June 13th.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO PACK PROPER ATTIRE. Sunscreen and water bottles are recommended. Most of the Field Day activities are held outside. Water coolers will be placed at first aid stations and around activity stations. Students are encouraged to bring water bottles to help minimize the use of paper cups. . Students who didn't order a sack lunch from the cafeteria must bring one.

Friends of Chesterbrook
| Thank you to all the Family Friends who have donated this year! We are almost at our goal, but need a few more families to join. With the Online Auction on hiatus this year, our Family Friends Program is one of Chesterbrook PTA's primary means to support important academic and school support needs.
We ask for everyone's support of $100 per family to reach our goal, but your gift of any size is appreciated. Check out all our donors so far! We can also help determine whether your company participates in a program to match employee donations. With the Online Auction on hiatus this year, this is one of Chesterbrook PTA's primary means to support important academic and school support needs. Businesses that donate $500 to our "Business Friends of Chesterbrook" program will be recognized on our website, on these emails (see left sidebar), and in other ways at school. For more information visit our website and click on the "Become a Business Friend" tab.
There are two easy ways to give:
- You can donate online on our website: Family Friends or Business Friends.
- You can donate by check. Please make checks payable to "Chesterbrook PTA" and forward to school via backpack mail or mail it directly to Chesterbrook PTA, 1753 Kirby Road, McLean, VA 22101.
Contact Trisha Downey or Amanda Abraham with any questions. |

FCPS Meetings on Later HS Start Times |
Fairfax County Public Schools invites you to attend one of eight community meetings to gather feedback on four scenarios that would move high school start times after 8 a.m.
If you are unable to attend a community meeting, we invite you to use an online form to submit your feedback. The online form will be available beginning May 19 on the Later High School Start Times web page.
The Fairfax County School Board adopted a resolution in April 2012 to seek solutions that will establish high school start times at 8 a.m. or later. In March 2013, the School Board voted to award a contract to Children's National Medical Center (CNMC) to develop a proposal to achieve this goal. Working with a diverse stakeholder committee, CNMC's Division of Sleep Medicine initiated a process to develop a Blueprint for Change. The committee studied many scenarios to start FCPS high schools after 8 a.m. to improve students' mental and physical health, academic performance, and safety. The School Board reviewed four scenarios at its work session on April 23, and now seeks the community feedback on these options.
Thank you for taking the time to participate either at an upcoming community meeting or through our online feedback form.
