FAQs |
Question: We never received our School Supplies that we ordered. Where are they?
Answer: Supply kits ordered through the PTA have been delivered in bulk to your students' classrooms. Teachers will distribute them as they are needed to those who ordered them. For example, third graders won't be needing their recorders for awhile, so the music teachers will keep them until they will be introduced. Students will help teachers organize and label the colored folders in the kits so that all math folders in a grade are red, for example. And in kindergarten, teachers typically pool all crayons for class use, adding new boxes as others run down. We have found over the years that this system works better for the teachers and makes the volunteers' job much more streamlined. If you did not buy a PTA kit, please send in all supplies as soon as possible, so the teachers can add them to their stash.

Take a tour of the school and learn how you can get involved. We will have coffee and a light breakfast, a tour of the school and a question and answer session. Monday, September 9th at 8:45 a.m. in the cafeteria. Email Elizabeth Hale at halefamilyva@gmail.com to RSVP, or just come over! |
Activity Registration
| We are working to offer a range of before- and after- school activities as we have in the past. Please check your Thursday folders and the website for updated information. Registration for PTA-managed fall activities will begin September 12th at 6 pm on the PTA website. The sessions included in this registration are tentatively Fitness Warriors and Stock Market Game before school and Drama, Science Enrichment, Math Oympiads, Digital Photography, and YES! Young Entrepreneurial Solutions after school. FLEX (foreign language), Girls on the Run, and Chess Club will handle registration through Fairfax County, GOTR, and Silver Knights respectively. We will have links to those offerings on the PTA website but their registration start times may differ from September 12. We may also be offering GEMS and BE-STEMS in the fall or winter. Yoga will not be offered in the fall but will return in the winter/spring. If you have any questions, please email afterschool@chesterbrookpta.org. |
Room Parents | BE A CHESTERBROOK ROOM PARENT! Being a room parent is a great way to be involved in your child's classroom. Each class needs a lead room parent, who is the primary point of contact with the teacher, as well as several assistants to help to plan parties and events during the year. For the first time this year, you can sign up online at www.tinyurl.com/ChesterbrookRoomParent. Please sign up by Friday, September 13. Contact Tara Andringa Dunfee with any questions. |
PTA Memberships
| Thanks to all who have joined the PTA at or before Open House. There's still time! By joining the Chesterbrook Parent Teachers Association (PTA), you are investing in our children and making a difference at Chesterbrook Elementary. Your PTA dues provide or subsidize a host of education enrichment activities, including:
►Cultural Events ►Computer Lab ►Science Appreciation ►Field Trips ►Family Fun Events ►Staff Appreciation ►Staff Development ►Discovery Gardens ►Classroom materials & equipment...and so much more! In addition, by joining the PTA, you will receive a FREE copy of the Chesterbrook family directory. This is an essential tool for every household!
Joining does not mean you are signing up for a volunteer position. While the PTA welcomes and encourages volunteers, membership does not mean you have volunteered for any specific activity.
Joining is simple! go online to the PTA website and purchase your membership there. Families are encouraged to join for $20; however, individual memberships are available for $10.
Remember, the more you support the PTA, the more the PTA can support our kids. Thank you for your support!

Lavender's Fall Fundraiser | We are pleased to be partnering with Lavender's Catalog Sales for another school fundraiser this fall!
You can expect the catalog and information packet to be sent home with your oldest child during the second week of school. In an effort to save on resources and be environmentally conscious, we will be providing ONE catalog and ONE order form per family.
Please contact Judy Williams with any questions at 703-442-3984 or at jandjwilliams@yahoo.com.

Family Directory |
We hope to have this year's directory available in October, but we need your help. If you haven't done so already, please verify your family's directory information by Friday.
Returning Families: If your family's information appeared in last year's directory, you should have received a verification email from: chesterbrook@schooldirectoryupdate.com. (These emails went out on August 15th. If you did not receive this email, please email us at directory@chesterbrookpta.org and we will forward it to you). If you have not done so already, please follow the instructions in the email to verify your family's directory information by Friday, September 6th. Verification should only take a couple of minutes and once you complete the verification process, you will have access to the AtoZ School Directories App.
New Families: If your family is new to Chesterbrook this year (or your family's information did not appear in last year's directory), please email us at directory@chesterbrookpta.org if you have not done so already (please include your full name, your children's full names, and their grades). We will then email you information on how to access our directory database (including your own login and password information) so that you can enter and verify your directory information. We will also provide instructions on how to access the AtoZ School Directories App.
Thank you for verifying your family's information. If you have any questions, please contact the Directory Team at directory@chesterbrookpta.org.

Shop Amazon and Earn Money for Chesterbrook
|
Chesterbrook PTA earns between 4% and 10% of every item sold and shipped through the PTA Amazon link, depending on the type of product and number of items shipped each month. The more items purchased and shipped, the higher the percentage earned each month. It's as simple as:
- Visit the PTA website www.chesterbrookpta.org and click on the Amazon PTA Link in the upper right hand corner; "book mark it" or "add to your favorites" for easy access in the future.
- Use the PTA Amazon.com link BEFORE adding items to your cart
- ANY and EVERY purchase made through the PTA Amazon link counts, including music downloads, toys, Kindles, books, on demand movies, clothes and toys!
- If you have items in your wish list, click on Amazon link before you place your order.
Thanks very much to Joy Molony for promoting the AMAZON link last year which resulted in increased funding for Chesterbrook.
