Question: I heard that we made a ton of money just for shopping through Amazon. Does that continue all year long?
Answer: Yes! Use or bookmark the Amazon link on our website or above under Quick Links every time you order. Any and every purchase through our PTA Amazon link counts, including books, clothes, music downloads, Kindle purchases, on-demand movies... everything! We earn 4-10 percent of every item sold and shipped, depending on the item and total number shipped each month. This is FREE money for us and has really helped our fundraising this year.

Field Day Friday | The Chesterbrook faculty would like to formally invite you to attend our annual Field Day on June 7th.
- 4th-6th grades: 9-11 am
- 1st-3rd grades: 12:30-2:30 pm
The day is filled with fun activities for 1st - 6th grades and is a great way to celebrate the conclusion of another successful year at Chesterbrook. Please remember to have your children wear proper attire, athletic clothing and shoes, for this event. Both sunscreen and water bottles are recommended as well since most of the Field Day activities are held outside. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on June 7th. In the case of inclement weather we will be have Field Day on June 13th. And, don't worry, our kindergarteners won't miss out on all the fun -- they will have their own Olympics on June 13.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help. Please remember to check in at the office ahead of your start time.

The Brain Show | Returning to Chesterbrook for a 4th round, it's The Brain Show, Friday, June 7th. Students will have a chance to compete against each other and their teachers during the daytime assemblies (when they are not at Field Day) and compete against other families in a fun trivia game atmosphere at the evening show at 6:30. Parents: There are questions only your kids may be able to answer. Kids: Be surprised how smart your parents really are! The Brain Show is taking the country by storm. This interactive trivia game, which is a big hit with all ages, offers authentic fun and excitement of a real live TV game show including colorful podiums featuring computerized lights and sounds.

A Tribute to Betty Ende | Many of us will have worked with her over her 14 years at Chesterbrook, whether we know it or not. Many of us will have made important connections with others because of her. And many of us have been encouraged to get more involved because of her. But it is unlikely that any of us will ever have contributed as much to Chesterbrook Elementary and the community as the indefatigable Betty Ende. This is Betty's last year at the school, and we'd like to take a moment to reflect on her amazing years of service. Betty has been involved in PTA, classroom, school-wide, and community activities since her older daughter, a rising college senior, started kindergarten. In addition to serving as PTA President and Secretary twice over the years, Betty has spent multiple years on the Nominating Committee (a crucial role which recruits for the PTA board and committee heads), co-edited the Digest Plus newsletter, and has been instrumental in the school's major fundraiser, the online auction. In addition, she has juggled such diverse commitments as Immediate Past President, Reflections Chair, FCPS Media Tips Manager, Family Directory Committee, library volunteer shelver, art display volunteer, and, of course, she's been a room parent. Many of those jobs she has undertaken concurrently! Betty's commitment to making Chesterbrook a premier school can be found throughout the school in improvements large and small. (Read more) |
School Supply Kits Available in July | School supply lists will be available on the Chesterbrook PTA website in July. But no need to rush out to stand in line at the store! The Chesterbrook PTA offers complete school supply kits for each grade, including Kindergarten, to make it easy for you and to ensure each classroom is stocked with key supplies! Buy your School Supply Kits online and avoid trips to multiple stores to gather all the needed supplies. This is also a fundraiser for our school! Supply kits will be available starting Friday, July 19!! Kits can be purchased online at chesterbrookpta.org and paid for by credit card. You can pay for multiple students at the same time and in a matter of minutes you can do all your back to school supply shopping-from the comfort of your beach chair! School Supply kits will be available online through Friday, August 23. See the full flyer. - Supply Kits will not be sold during Open House or after School begins.
- Supply Kits are delivered to teachers for distribution to students on the first day of school.
And don't forget to pay for your PTA membership at the same time as your Supply Kits--it's all one easy transaction. |

PTA Elections | We will hold a very brief PTA General Membership Meeting in the cafeteria just before the Strings Concert on Tuesday, June 11th at 7 pm to elect officers for next year. We are excited to present for election: Kate Garcia, President and Elizabeth Hale, VP Fundraising and Kathleen Weil, Secretary. Click here to read more about Kate, Elizabeth and Kathleen. |
Rising K Playdates | We're still collecting contact information for our Rising K Playdate list. Over the summer our coordinators, Lori Boerner, Theresa Valencic, and Christy Baldrate, will organize several playground playdates so kids (and parents!) can make some new friends before school starts. The first is June 15 at 9:30 on the playground. Please contact kinders@chesterbrookpta.org if you have questions about the playdates or anything about kindergarten. You can also register for the Kinders list, as well as PTA mailings, on our website at the Newsletter Sign-Up on the righthand menu. |

Summer Quest 2013
|
It's not too late! Registration for our 2013 Summer Quest camp program continues until the week before camps begin, but space is getting limited!! Camps that still have space can be found on our website. Summer Quest will be held over 4 1-week sessions beginning July 8, 15, 22, and 29, with morning and afternoon sessions and an after-care program. The Program Guide includes descriptions of all camps. We also have Matrix that shows classes by week and age group. (Note that these guides still show full and cancelled classes.)
Because of construction work at Chesterbrook this summer, Summer Quest will be held at Haycock Elementary School at 6616 Haycock Rd, Falls Church, Virginia. It is the same Summer Quest program you've enjoyed the past few summers taught primarily by Chesterbrook Elementary teachers....only the location has changed and by less than 2 miles!
For all the details, see the PTA Website. Questions? Contact summerquest@chesterbrookpta.org.
