FAQs
Question:
I'd like to attend the Parent Social, but with all the construction going on at Vinson Hall, where can I park?

Answer:

Due to the construction, attendees are asked to park in the Chesterbrook Safeway Parking lot across the street from Vinson Hall. A Vinson Hall shuttle bus will transport parents from the Safeway to Vinson Hall for the duration of the event. The shuttle will begin at 7:45 p.m.

#3 Register Your Kids for Summer Quest 2013

SummerQuest

Hey, Chester! Why'd you sneak this one in? Its because there's  a minimum number of kids needed to run each Summer Quest class. In order to avoid getting families excited about classes which we don't think will get enough attendees, we've cancelled the following classes which had zero students enrolled - Week 1: Journey Through the States, Introduction to Puppetry, Game Strategies, Making Paper Crafts and  Books, Quilting for Charities (two week class) Week 2: Art Around the World, Advanced Cooking, Quilting for Charities (two week class), Journey Through the States. Week 4: Beginning Painting and Shakespeare 101.

The following classes are at risk of being cancelled due to low enrollment (this means the class needs 4 or 5 additional students to enroll): Week 1 AM: Elementary Voice, Science Can do That?, My Reading Personal Trainer, Golf.  Week 1 PM: Moving Up in Reading, Arts Time Traveling. Week 2 AM: Broadway Performance, Make your own Book. Week 2 PM: Advanced Arts and crafts, Pintastic.  Week 3 AM: Mosaic Magic, Shakespeare 101, Beginning Cooking, Cooking With Characters, Broadway Performance, & Writer's Workshop.  Week 3 PM: Multicultural Cooking, Step up to First Grade, Summer Strings.  Week 4 AM: Fun with Poetry,  Advanced Cooking, Chinese Calligraphy. Week 4 PM: Learn to Knit and Step into Storytelling.           .

What can you do?  If your child(ren) are interested in one of these classes and you haven't signed them up yet, do it TODAY so we know there's interest.  If you've already signed up your children for one of these classes, talk them up with your kids' friends' parents and Tell them to sign up TODAY!!  Most classes require a minimum of six students.

For those of you who haven't focused on summer yet, its time to do that NOW!  Summer Quest will be held over four 1-week sessions beginning July 8, 15, 22, and 29, with morning and afternoon sessions and an after-care program. The Program Guide includes descriptions of the camps. We also have Matrix that shows classes by week and age group.* Please note the Program Guide and Matrix still include the cancelled and low enrollment classes.

Because of construction work that will take place at Chesterbrook this summer, Summer Quest will be held at Haycock Elementary School at 6616 Haycock Rd, Falls Church, Virginia. It is the same Summer Quest program you've enjoyed the past few summers taught primarily by Chesterbrook Elementary teachers....only the location has changed and by less than two miles!

For the details, see the PTA Website.   Send questions to  summerquest@chesterbrookpta.org

#1 Spring 2013 Book Fair  - April 29 to May 2
Spring Book Fair 2012 The Spring Book Fair is just around the corner - Monday, April 29th to Thursday, May 2nd. The Fair will give families a head start on summer reading and activities supplies, as well as generate funds for our school library. Plus, books make great gifts so stock up for those summer birthdays!  Unlike the Fall, there will be no re-stocks during the Spring Book Fair so come in early for the best selection!

Chesterbrook will be hosting a book drive for Books From The Heart® in conjunction with the Book Fair.   Books from the Heart is a program of a national non-profit organization called The Heart of America Foundation®.  All of the books collected for Books from the Heart will be given to disadvantaged children in our area. We will be collecting books that are in good condition and suitable for children from babies through teenagers.  The drive will take place from April 29 through May 3.
