Dear Friend of FLD, First, I hope those of you that were affected by Hurricane Sandy are recovering and doing ok. I know we had many customers, including bars and restaurants that carry our products, that were devastated by this super storm. Though we were lucky to be largely unscathed here in the Finger Lakes, we've been thinking about those of you who were not. It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is later this week. We are open every day this week with the exception of Thursday. If you're in the area, please come see us on Friday from 11-5. FLD is the perfect alternative to the Black Friday shopping craze. We're offering free tastings, food samples, and live music. In addition to our party on Black Friday, we've got a ton of great tastings and events lined up through the end of the year. One that I'm particularly looking forward to is the Prohibition Era Cocktail Party at the Aurora Inn on December 7. See details below. Shamus Jones, from Brooklyn Brine, will be at the distillery on December 8 to offer pickle samples and discuss our unique collaboration in making Whiskey Sours and Bourbon Bread & Butter Pickles. Might be a pickle-back in the works, as well. Please keep us in mind for holiday gifts. Our handcrafted spirits are just what your colleagues, friends, and loved ones might be looking for to celebrate this holiday season. We also have several other great gift ideas for you including our new gift cards.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope to see you at the distillery soon. Sincerely, Brian McKenzie President, Finger Lakes Distilling

Wine, Beer & Spirits Summit
Last month, Governor Cuomo hosted a Summit in Albany to discuss one of the brighter spots in the NYS economy - the beverage alcohol industry. We were honored to be there to represent the growing craft distillery segment.
Several changes were proposed to ease the regulatory burdens we face and the Governor also committed to promoting NYS products through additional marketing dollars and an "over-the-top" gala to take place in NYC in 2013.
It was very refreshing to see the State acknowledge the economic impact we are making and the Administration's willingness to make the changes needed to improve the business climate for our industry.
After the Summit, the Governor hosted a reception at the Governor's Mansion where we had the opportunity to pour our spirits. Brian was able to spend some time with the Governor. He's pictured below discussing how we use grapes from the Finger Lakes to make our Vintner's Vodka.

In case you missed it...
Several Upstate NY papers ran David Hill's story on how the distilling industry is gaining a foothold in the Finger Lakes. Check out the associated video here. Following the big Summit in Albany, Governor Cuomo inspected a bottle of our Vintner's Vodka, which led to a mention in the NY Times. Check out this great review of McKenzie Rye in the Cocktail Enthusiast. Review of the McKenzie whiskeys. "Fantastic!", says Carlos DiVito in his blog East Coast Wineries. Make 100% NYS cocktails with McKenzie Rye. Tony Sachs shows you how on Liquor.com. |

2 oz. Vintner's Vodka
1 oz. Ginger beer or ginger ale
1/2 oz Cranberry juice concentrate
Dash Fresh Lemon Juice
1 Dash Finely-grated Ginger
Muddle ginger in a shaker. Add Vintner's Vodka, and lemon juice to shaker with ice. Strain into a martini glass. Top with the Cranberry juice, and Garnish with lemon twist or a slice of crystallized ginger.
Thick as Thieves
2 oz. McKenzie Rye Whiskey
1/2 Pear
