Every summer has a story, watch our latest fun YouTube video where we share our typical day with you. This month's safety tips include summer storms plus hot interior heat indexes your car can reach, then we end with a link to our video and some great summer events. Enjoy!

Summer + Car = Oven

The news is always tragic, and seems to happen far too often: a child left in a hot car is found dead of heat stroke when a caregiver forgot or did not know they were there.

If you see a child left alone in a hot car do not hesitate to call 911.

Hot summer days and nights can bring fierce thunder and lightning storms. Know what to do to keep you and your loved ones safe.

Indoor Safety:

Unplug- appliances, computers, televisions etc..., or just turn them off.

Stay off- step away from any appliance or device that puts you directly in contact with electricity.

Avoid- washing your hands, bathing, doing laundry or the dishes.

Outdoor Safety:

Seek shelter -inside a building or a hard topped vehicle.

Stay away- from windows and doors

On the water? Get to land and get indoors as soon as possible.

Hair standing on end? Lighting could be striking very close to you. Make yourself as small as possible but do not lie on the ground. Squat, put your hands over your ears, and tuck your head close to your body and remain on the balls of your feet.

Call 911- if a person is struck by lightning get medical care ASAP. Lightning strike victims carry no electrical charge so attend to them immediately.
