Congratulations to Executive Director Carlton Turner!

On January 7, 2013, Carlton was named one of 11 members of a new artist advisory panel to review the selection process for the annual Kennedy Center Honors.

Carlton was chosen to be part of the panel that includes notable names such as actress Debbie Allen and cellist Yo-Yo Ma along with long standing leaders in multi-cultural arts organizations including Maria de Leon, National Association of Latino Arts & Culture and Roberto Bedoya, Tuscon Pima Arts Council. The panel was created as part of The Kennedy Center's efforts to assure inclusive diversity among the ranks of those who receive its highest Honor.

"The Kennedy Center Honors is one of, if not the most, prestigious awards an artist can receive," says Turner. "To have an opportunity to help bring clarity and transparency to that process is special beyond words. I look forward to learning and growing with this amazing group that the Kennedy Center has put together." - Carlton Turner, Executive Director, Alternate ROOTS
